check the resistance on the back lights as this will be the problem it coould be a s simple as a corroded pin .

when lamp blow resistance goes sky high tell computer its broke get my drift!!!
if the resistance is high enough to simulate a a busted light it will tell you so easy way to check is to take the tail lights out and just have a general look around.
Because ALL E30's get condensation in the boot.
