I had the oppertunity of taking part in the buying of a Z8 last week for a good mate of mine who lives in Dubai, the car was cheap(for the market) at 40 grand sterling  and he bought it to try and keep (cash permitting) but otherwise he will sell it on as dubai market is around 50k.

to say the car is awsome does not do it justice, i have driven E39 M5's and they are quick but sat in this thing the engine is a different beast, power from everywhere, i tried a 6th gear test entering a motorway from 20km/h and within 15 secs i was somewhere around 220km/h!!

and the traction control flickers happily from 1st to 4th!!

To put it midly this car is perfect, looks, soft top, power and tons and tons of street cred

the ONLY critisism i could find is.......... you can't open the passenger side window from the drivers side :? (thats why i assume they made it so nice... you would never be without a passenger winkeye

anyway enough of my babble you want pics!! so here they are.... and i must say my E30 does not look too bad in such company (especially when i consider i could buy 20 of them and still have some change 8O !!)

As usual comments are appriciated winkeye

lovely pics... i'd say E30 cab all day long... The Z8 has a porsche looking rear end and a mix between old jag E-type and Aston martin front end. Oh and the interior is not for me!! :puke: ... simple solution! engine out of Z8 and into E30.. :thumb:

Opinions....
well....don't like the z8 dash (centre dash isn't a bm thing as it should be focused on the driver as all the other bm's do)...styling wise..as the above comments....

I could honestly say...if i was spending that sort of money on that car....it would only be because i would be making 10K on it....

The cab looks awesome, and i think your mate should've spent his money on 20 of them...or just 1 and made it look like it's worth 20!!! :D

Nice pics though :thumb:

E30 all day long. And your right, it does look good even in the company of the Z8. z8's a lovely car but it's just not BM-ish. So many non Bm traits in it as mentioned above. Your E30 is perfect

Forgot how cool the z8 actually is. Loving the art deco interior. Some great contrasts in the pics. That would have been an enjoyable photoshoot to participate in

your e30 is crazy wicked,
in my opinion the z8 looks very cool in black,
i have a photo of a silver one in london, and it looks far less apealing,

very cool pics

Please tell me you checked that the car wasn't one to have suffered the dreaded Z8 chassis flex

must say i am a bit surprised at the comments, and actually quite flattered that people actually looked at my E30 next to what amounts to a supercar.

The Z8 has only done 40000km and yes it looks very nice in black, (another friend in dubai has a red one and it is not as good lookin)it certainly didn't flex.

and the mini is not mine, i do not believe these cars to be a mini as there was only one mini. these new things are not even a girls car, and to prove this point my wife has had 325 sport, Z3 coupe and now a dodge durango... but never a new ''MINI''

yes had great fun taking the pics, only problem is it is at 6am and he was about to leave for Dubai (best part of 1000km trip) so we didn't have much time, i normally like to go to alternative locations for a picture shoot but in this case not an option, maybe next time i buy one!!

yes the Z8 styling is not for everyone but in the flesh they really are a beautiful machine, the bonnet is sooooooo long, just look at the pic of the E30 and Z8 nose(2nd to last pic) and you will see the Z8 is ''in front'' of the E30, then look at the pic of the two front wheels side by side, then look where the E30 door starts....it is one seriously long front end,

oh and more negative comments on driving it....the clusters are to the centre as you see, and in front of the steering wheel is a black painted and polished, which is fine till you drive it at night, each time you go under street light it reflects in the ''dash'' and up onto the windscreen, giving an effect of streetlight orange traces flying accorss the dash and windscreen... very annoying and i haven't touched drugs for 10 years!!!! not so long ago and things may have been very different!!! Woah dude... did you see those lights man!!

keep the comments commin (especially praise for my cabby winkeye )

Nice cars...especially the Cab.

I was at Hexagon in Kentish Town, London on Sat. to pick some parts up and they had a black Z8 on the forecourt. Beautiful looking machine!

Love the pics and offcourse the cars too!!
You're cab is just how I wish mine would looked like, very nice.

I find the Z8 a great car with his special looks. I've seen them in Silver, black and special dark gray effect paint (don't know the name of the collour ). The last paint is also very nice but in black and with that interior like the Z8 on the pics is very hot too.

Last year I had the oppertunity to take a Z8 for a test drive....well the test was just to short because I had so mutch fun with it. So much power, great sound and just the things you really need on a car an nothing more then pure power. It took long before I noticed the 6'th gear but yeah don't really need it.

Anyway it was a moment I never forget.

z8 is a very nice car but as has been said... a bit too un-bmw. Not that that really matters, the car is still an incredible machine whether it looks like a 'proper' bmw or not.

Your cab looks lovely, nice to see that the e30's styling can hold its own next to the more modern car.

Tell your mate to clean the footwell carpet before he sells it, looks a bit skanky.

I can't believe the negative comments towards the Z8, looks stunning and the pub ammo figures are praiseworthy, interior ain't my bag but probably looks 100% better when you are sat in it.

Nice E30 too :)

To keep the interior un-cluttered the drivers door window switch can operate both door window motors, just slide the mirror control switch towards the passenger window, then use the drivers door window switch to operate the passenger window motor.

I'll second the Aston from the front/porsche from the back look!

It is a nice looking car, but I still reckon the cabby has more character, and looks like it would eat the z8 for breakfast!! :D

cheers for all the good comments, and the schnitzers are almost ready to go on, yes i was quite surprised to see how the E30 looked against more exotic machinery..... got a Blue Diablo round next week (a mate of my neighbor) so i will tee up some E30 v Diablo pics  and if at all possible after the F1 race here in two weeks there are usually some BMW F1 cars lying about (actaually not real ones) but i will see if i can arrange a photo shoot on the F1 grid of E30 v Williams F1 car 8O

he z8 is an unbelievable machine. I went out in one at vines and it was way faster than an e39 m5 and felt faster than the new m5. LHD and all but who cares, the car is a weapon; you really cant gain any context of how long the bonnet is until you see one in real life too i don't think. Granted the interior would look nice in an e30 but its a z8; an exotic rare car i think it pulls it off perfectly.

sorry but for me it would be the z8 anyday!

I'm surprised no-one's mentioned the noise these things make, unless someone has and I didn't notice. A guy who lives around the corner from me used to have one and I'd hear him thrashing the hell out of it most nights. It sounds much better than the M5, either due to the exhaust or induction, I'm not sure which. Maybe both. Silly sod sold it for an SL55 Merc which sounded good, but not as good as the Z8.
