I'm looking at the Becker Grand Prix for the E30. I dont want anything that looks Chavy or has flashing disco lights on it
. So what do you think ?? http://www.soundlabsgroup.com.au/pc/Bec ... cker/Sound

Try and get hold a Nakamichi CD400 or CD500. It will knock spots off the Becker. You'ld probably have to import it from Hong Kong via Ebay.

Nackeredmidget also make some very proper kit - I just find it a bit fiddley compared to the Becker stuff, & have heard about quite a lot of reliability issues with em too...
Both sound excellent to my ears though - certainly better than your average Kenwood etc - but I'd always question the need for absolute quality in a car... & a noisy cab in my case!

Correct, Nakamichi will never be OE equipment. It's too expensive for tight fisted manufacturers to spec. That's why it's an UPGRADE. The fact that you say they have max power looks clearly shows your ignorance of the brand. Research is always a good idea before you rubbish something. Anyway, the Becker units that come as "optional extras" in some Mercedes models ain't all that and are overpriced.gcorky wrote:tristan325 wrote:Try and get hold a Nakamichi CD400 or CD500. Ladies...Ladies please.....
Now can we return to Becker please. The fact that its going into a noisy cab wont bother me. This car is 14 years old and just had a main dealer service at 24,789 miles !
I'm fitting brand new leather headrests in the rear to match the indigo leather it left the factory with. So spending the extra on Becker wont bother me. I like the understated look of the Becker product, it wont clash with the style of the interior.

I think you'll find they are Japanese.gcorky wrote:that korean produce is irrelevant
Luke, Becker are excellent units, if a little cluttered with largely uneccessary gimics, But certainly a big step up from Chavwood and the like.

I have a Becker Mexico Pro and find it very easy to use (love rotory volume contols )and looks like it was made for the E30 dash. I have not yet upgraded the speakers so its still running on Pioneer three ways in the kick panels.tristan325 wrote: Luke, Becker are excellent units, if a little cluttered with largely uneccessary gimics, But certainly a big step up from Chavwood and the like.

I had a nightmare fitting mine as someone had bodged the connections. Dark sounds (ali) helped me and its running fine now.gcorky wrote: finally tried mine cotty, the phone function is great!!took me a while to sus the preout connections as there not labeled...sounds good and best of all its red...lol
I just use the basic functions, stick a CD in, volume and track select is all I use. Not even plugged the arial in as I dont listen to radio. Works for me.

If it's anything like mine, you can set it to invert the display when the lights are on too

Nakamichi. Sussposed to be a very good head unit and extremely over-priced too.
The Beckers are a very understated unit and suit the BMW down to a T. Reasonably priced with excellent sound qualities
No John Travolta flares and Fancy disco lights like most Head Units.

I have just installed the Becker Grand Prix 7992 this weekend and it is even better than expected. Bluetooth works a treat and it sounds great, would recomend 200%
