Hi,

I am looking for a donor car for fixing up my e30.
My car is a H Reg C2 2.7 convertible automatic, ive smashed up all the front. Parts wise how much of a diferance is ther if i get a 1) 325i 2) 325 SEi 3) 325i Motersport and A) 2 door Coupe B) 4 door Saloon and C) Touring.

What years/regs should I stick to.

Just wanted to make sure I dont get a car that is to differant.

Also anyone got any Alpina wheels for sale? 2 of mine are bent.
Any recomendations for were to get nice big brakes for it at the same time?

Any help would be welcome, I need to get a car within a few days to give to someone that will be fixing the car for me.

Thanks

Hiya, shame you've messed up the C2,but i'm sure with the amount of people on here you'll get her back together soon,
Parts wise,It may be best to post what you want so people know what parts you need, this kind of defines which breaker is best for you.
A povert spec 316 would be cheapest but it may not have all the bits you want.

might be neater if the mods merge the 2 threads maybe ?

Hiya mate, welcome and sweet motor get it fixed!!! :D
I'd do what the carpenter of nazareth said get a 316 or 318 if there is any thing more specialised than that the just advertise for the parts on here, every one is very helpful. Depends how hard you smash was weather you just need body front stuff or engine parts etc. Then again if it's just body pannels you need euro car parts are supposed to be quite good.
Good luck with it anyway :D

You can probbaly get the wheels straightened from lepsons. They straighteened my freinds 16" Alpinas and they were very very bent!

As for repairing it, use quailty second hand panels. You need to use convertible front wings as they are unique to the convertible.

Bonnets are all the same.

Just get hold of what panels you need rather than buying a whole car.

Forget big brakes, keep the car as near origional as possible otherwise you'll be affecting the value. You can use uprated disks and pads which are known to work really well, ask KARAN what he's using.

And repair it properly, not some back street dodgy little place thats not going to tighten bolts and even forget to put things back in. Get it painted properly and not have 2 different colours on the car. C2 2.7 Cabs are worth serious bucks.......if they are nice.

If I were your brother I would kill you anyway for crashing it.

Can you not go through insurance? Or werent you insured? Your Brother is going to find out if you do a repair job on it yourself.

Get it done properly, bite the bullet and take the pain! C2 convertibles are rare enough, so don't reshell if it can be helped. If you have to get another convertible shell, and keep like for like.

Damage

Both front side wings
Wish bone passenger side
Steering rack and whole cross
Mounting air con
Radiator / Fan
All the front including bumper, lites, fogs, indicators, grille etc
Suspension passenger side
Bonnet
Windscreen

Everything has been pushed back, the mechanic said he would pull everything backand the above is all the knows yet that he will need, the reason i thought of buying a car is so that he has everything he can need including a auto gear box as if this is damaged it will prob b very costly.

Also the car had a 325 motersport kit on it, this is how the car was when my brother bought it, but he has had it checked out by a few ppl and they all agree that the engine is definately legit alpina 2.7. I am going to ask him later today if he wants me to put on alpina kit.

If you re-shell what exactly are you going to change over? Everything including chassis plate etc? And therefore the reg no, or just the components, as this will affect the value and the status of the car, as it may not be verifiable when the time comes to sell. You'll have everybody asking for the vin/chassis no so they can see if it is a genuine C2 or not, and if you're not careful, the value will plummet. Get a conv shell.

But a donor e30 of similar year should be OK as a parts donor for your car. Good luck with it!

The shell sounds totally buggered.

It would be very difficult to straighten that car. It ould have caused other stresses on the body which you wont be aware of. Youll have loads of other alighnment issues and it might not ever look right.

Reshell it. Speak to Sytners about this and they may be able to guide you so that it is still a verifiable C2.

Well done for smashing an Alpina!

that means there's only 99 c2 2.7's left then!

I'd be very surprised if u have not bent the chassis, sounds like FUBAR to me!

One question i know it's tempting but why matey? why???

8O Thats your bro's face.

Are the wheels buckled or cracked or both?

Headlamps Ԛ£150
Wings gen Ԛ£150
Wheel refurb + straighten Ԛ£50 each
Wish bone Ԛ£105
New ball joints Ԛ£20
C2 badge at least Ԛ£20
Suspension EXPENSIVE!
Steering rack second hand Ԛ£60ish
Viscous fan Ԛ£30
Rad Ԛ£100 plus

Mtech bumper Ԛ£150
Front valance Ԛ£150 (won't be alot less second hand either)

Or

Alpina front valance Ԛ£300 ish (there are no second hand ones of these!)

The rest i can't think of is loads too.
Spraying at Ԛ£150 a panel. Labour to do the whole car.
Getting it jigged is like Ԛ£200 before they get the jig out!

This puppy is a write off in my book. Inner wings will be crunched too. The thing will rust bad too a few years after repair. Just own up and go from there.

What did u hit? a bloody big wall?

I agree with Simon, this Cab C2 is dead now.

Even a master of repair would probably walk away from it. The impact must have been very big if the engine has moved back and buggered the gearbox. No way would I even consider repairing it.

Best thing you can do is buy a a very nice 325i Cab and start transferring over everything that is Alpina. Its going to lose value no matter what.

But then it might have been a shed to start with.

Is it defo a C2 2.7 or is it just the engine thats been nicked out of a C2 and stuck in a cab?

Are you proud of yourself?

Easy on the bloke guys, we all have smshes now and then and it's the sensible one of us who can learn from them!
He hasn't come on here to have his driving questioned but to resectfully pick our combined knowledge. I must say though at leas noone has called him a tosser yet for trashing a C2, I'm very impressed

:ttiwwp:

Why? and How? couldn't resist. I hope for your sake it was a mechanical failure. At least that would give you an excuse with the bro, I have three and they tend to be harsher than anyone else.

i consider this (possibly involuntary) euthanasia the better option, who wants to see a poor old e30 dying a rusty death! don't tell me they all won't eventually, without major rebuilding every few years and/or sealed inside a vacuum!!

nope no insurance thats y sorting it out like this, ive had all this whyyyy stuf from LOOOOOADS of ppl, n i stil think what actualy hapend n whhhhhhhhyyyyyyy did it happen, anyway lets 4get that and think bou wats gona happen.

well 1st of all parts wise i rekon i what im going to go for is this 325i that ive found, its got no rust etc so in decent nik, ive got the guy down to 450, gona go down south to get it 2mro, then a mechanic said he will do all the work for 1200 to 1400 including a full body respray, and i dont pay him until im happy with it so really i dont think thats to bad a deal, thou sorting the wheels and windscreen is not included in that, wil hav 2 get profesionals 2 fit in the windscreen from the car im fitting so over all not including alloys should cost at max 1800 - 2000 because will have to also buy cabby side wings from sumwere!

KAREN what are the best brakes for the car? What should I go for and were can i get it from? and also any rekomendations on suspension upgrades for better handling? (I need help IF i ever get 2 drive it EVER again, and yep i agree i dont deserve to ever sit in any car again!)
