Bubble on tyre wall

Right lads I have A bit of travelling to do tomorrow. The only problem is the car I want to take has A little slit in the tyre wall and you can see A bubble appearing. the tyre is A michelin 225/40zr1892y and has rim protection I believe. Bit of rubber which goes over the rim could it be this seperating? Thinking it might be but dont want to have the possibility of A blow out?

If the sidewall has a bubble in it it can be pretty dangerous especially traveling at speed for any length of time, The strength of the tyre is in the sidewall. You will only have to catch the tyre in ther same plass again an it could blow. Not worth the risk.

My old car had tears in the rim protector, bubbles in the sidewalls, lots of battle wounds from rallying it across dartmoor..

It also had the steel braiding showing through on the inside inch of both front tyres. Never caused me any problems. (at speeds up to 140 ish).

Jeez Munky, I wouldn't have DRIVEN the car with tyres like that, let alone at 140mph...

What sh*t were you smoking to risk doing things like that?

Thinking of taking A chance. Probally been like that for A while driving at silly speeds but now I have seen it something will happen

I didn't need Cocaine to drive with tyres like that,the ones on that green Merc I put on Max's thread had the belts hanging out.
The car was driven to Carlisle and back twice a week (600 mile trips),at 100-120,I was just ignorant and thought........ah.......it'll be alright!
Bit more sensible these days mind..........most of the time.......

Blowouts blow! I had one in my old 528 at 135, rear wheel went, spare was knackered so I ended up driving 5 miles down the m5 to taunton on the rim, sparks flying. Pulled into a tyre place in taunton at 3am, fell asleep. Was woken at 8.30 by a knock on the window.... 'you need a new tyre mate?' :lol:

Your rear tyre blew out at 135 and you managed to a) control it and b) drive on. I am astonished. I have a relative who is a graded Police driver and in their own words for rear blow outs. You hold on and pray........

Never been able to control one. Not even at half that speed.

Oh I didnt control it... I just didnt hit anything when I lost it and spun wildly so could drive on :lol:
