I definately reckon my 318i is quicker and torquier than my old 320i.
But as GDBN says, not everyone's into road racing, so why worry that it's a 320?
It's still a nice car, and he hasn't bought it to do up and sell Pete, he's going to keep and enjoy it.
For what he's paid, and what he's got, he's a lucky guy. I wouldn't turn it down just cos it's a 320.
He can always put an eta crank and 325 cam and get a 2.7 out of it if it's really too underpowered.

People on the Zone are enthusiasts, Pete. They buy the cars, not because they're cheap, but because they like them. And if they want to put money into them, let em get on with it. So what if it's not worth the money, the owner is happy.
I'd happily spend loads on mine if I didn't have a mortgage. I love these E30s, and I'd rather spend money making mine how I want it, than on buying a newer, nastier piece of turd. My wife has a 54 plate hatchback that I detest driving, I think it's ugly and not worth the money she spent on it. Again her money, her choice. I'd rather have my E30.

Yes Gordon , but surely most people would rather polish their newly acquired turd than replace quarter panels and floors etc ?
Go to the for sale section and tell me honestly you would rather rebuild gaszmans pile of festering ferrous oxide than cruise around in the sterling silver taxed and tested 325 touring that can be bought for £500 ?
By the time gaszmans turd has tax and test and resembles any sort of usable transport it will owe him much more than £500 and still be scrap. Obviously if you are into a bit of S+M and enjoy sleepless nights with arceye and long waits in A+E getting your arm reattached my advise will have fallen on deaf ears !

I nearly commited a sin last night.

I nearly brought a 320 touring in white In all honestly I should have brought it, stripped the decent morsels(about £5's worth) and flogged it on for £400. This was actually a nice example with arches that were present and it even had "jacking points" still, electric sunroof, rear load cover, imaculate interior(poverty spec), 316 history book and it went under the hammer at £125.

Luckerly I saw sense, but i still think I missed an opportunity to flog it on to neil(320touring).
