i want to run individual throttle bodies but i cannot find any "kits" and i'm not really sure what exactly to look for or whatever else i need to make it all work?
i know i'll need:
a standalone management system,
intake manifold(where can i get one of these? will it have to be custom?),
injectors
will i need a new fuel rail etc? different fuel pump?
any advice greatly appreciated.

I'm right in the middle of making a set of custom ITBs for a guy with a great big V8, and the M20 is next on my list if you're interested and can wait a few weeks for me to start on them winkeye

i cant yet decide whrther to go forced induced or stay n/a

I'm running a set of ITBs on my current setup and they work absolutely brilliantly :D Throttle response is amasing and the hp/psi is also pretty decent :)

The V8 set I'm doing run to £1300 odd so pro-rata it'd come out at £975, but the linkage is quite complex on the V8 as both banks need syncronising so the price should come down a bit taking that into consideration and also some of the bits I sub out are more numerous on the 6 cyl than an 8 which helps reduce costs :)

alex, i've been told that ITB's on forced induction setup is a bit of a wasted effort. do you really think it makes that much difference then mate?

It seems there are two schools of thought on the matter, one that it's a waste of time, the other that making everything flow as efficiently as possible will lead to more power / psi of boost.

Certainly I subscribe to the latter way of thinking, as did Bugatti (before VW stuck their oar in) on the EB110, Nissan on the Pulsar and Skyline, Peugeot on the 205 T16 rally car and probably a fair few others :)

cool cool, thats a very good point mate. i wasnt snatching, it was just something i got told!

only reason i asked, is because i'll be building my ITB's up soon, and if im ever going to supercharge the engine, i wanted to keep them on there!!

well firstly off boost performance would be greatly improved.
and i believe it does too on boost, but is not as important as it is on na.

more air in=more air out=more power

 sorry dude, didn't mean to sound so defensive :)

The only problem you'd have with (a positive displacement) supercharger setup would be venting the boost generated at idle, but it's nothing Lentec hasn't worked around with his down-stream throttle body so I'd say go for it :D

why vent the boost at idle? cant you just run the charger at idle so its right near making boost, without actually boosting?

when boosting though with itbs you do then require a more complex intake upto itbs...rather than say a 3 inch pipe upto tb.not a mass problem but something to think about on your initial design.

price sounds reasonable dude :D
can you sort out manifold injectors etc? or is that included?

It's only really a problem with positive displacement chargers which are always trying to supply X amount more air than the engine can consume. With the throttles shut, the air's got nowhere to go so the system pumps up and up until something bursts or the drive belt to the charger starts slipping or breaks.

It's no big deal though as you can incorporate a couple of dump valves into your air box which are pulled open by engine vacuum when the throttles are shut in the conventional way :)

Think Len has a magnetic clutch on his charger which disengages drive when the throttle's shut too which helps relieve stress on things too.

That price includes manifolds, throttles, throttle linkage and bracketry to retain the original fuel rail and also the crank case breather pipe.

You'd need to supply your own injectors and, whilst I can supply an air box, people like to be able to play with their tuned lengths so the throttles I make accept standard Weber pattern trumpets.

The design I've come up with allows you to put the air box on top of the engine so that you can keep the runners pretty much the same length as the original plenum intake, or it can be moved closer to the head if your setup dictates :)

Can certainly take a look dude, I've gotta give the V8 chap top priority until his project's complete though, will pop some piccies of his setup up when I've got something to show for my efforts :)

Bike bodies are good value, there's an endless supply of donors! Cheaper than bespoke but nowhere near as cool.

well i'm not actually that close. i live in chessington/leatherhead but i spend alot of time in farnham so it is sort of close to me. i go to the Burger king in aldershot at least once a week.
stuart- its not really near new malden, NMalden is S.london end of the a3 whereas aldershot is closer to guilford.

We're working on the specifics for Oakey's setup as his ports are larger than standard.

I'll keep updating the thread as and when things happen dude. hopefully it will all be getting started soon. I need to get a standalone management system fitted first. :D

Oh yeah! Turbo-Brown. Would it be ok for you to post me a printed version of the flange? as I'm not sure whether, if you email me the file, the dimensions will be correct
cheers matey :D
If you can get it to me asap that would be awesome as ive got alot of free time this week/weekend
