Hi Guys,

Im 19 and have been driving for 2 years and 8 months. Ive got pass plus and no convictions or accidents.

Im looking to get a 318is but cant seem to find insurance anywhere that is cheap enough. Even in my dads name we are still looking at paying above £1500 which I cant afford.

Anybody had the same problem? how have you got around it?

Any help would be gratefully received...

cheers Dan

try elephant.co.uk
I was running about in a 318is at 18 with no no claims no points, no convictions etc.
that was £1100 on my own.. with mother on policy too

I sold that in feb and bought an M3 3 weeks ago and have got that insured now..
at a cost, but my god it is worth every penny!
Bollocks to this 24v scrap!

Good luck.

Just sorted my insurance today

With Admiral

325i touring
im 23 with 2 years no claims £535 which works out as £635 when paid monthly.
was fairly happy with that.

Could have got it cheaper on a classic policy but didnt fall within the mileage bracket

Just tell the insurance company you are 32 like me and your insurance will be cheap as chips LOL. Sorry not helpful.

Try AQuote Insurance. A mate of mine (in Prestatyn) had a similar problem trying to insure his bike and they were really cheap.

Go for the E30 we need all the North Wales members we can get. :D

that seems pricy mate, i was insured on my M3 at 19 for a little more than that.

Classic car policy wont touch you until your at least 21 (been down that route)

Just thought i would add my details to this:

e30-325i -------Adrian Flux quoted £198 fully comp---classic policy 3000 miles per year----(no claims disc- not used)

e36-320i se-------ecarinsurance.co.uk £333 inc breakdown cover and installments (11 yrs no claims)

I am 39 and been driving for 22 years and live in dodgy postcodes........mind you I was quoted £1000 off Admiral Ins....LMFAO for the 320

Wow Elephant were really cheap :o £861.20
I had almost given up hope got some good quotes a while ago but it was looking like I couldnt get a decent quote now. Currently buying a 318iS :D
My history is bad!! If i can get insured anyone can lol
21 - 2 Claims Within the last 14months. (Slowed down now though)

Just dont forget to add a female, either mother or sister as a second driver if you can to your policy I found when doing it Dads didnt drop it much but Mums or sisters do by up to £300.
Hope you get a decent quote mate.

i paid £450. my mums corsa 1.2 was nearly a grand.

This thread is exactly like all the previous threads on the same subject - next to useless.
The only way to find the cheapest quote is to spend a day or two on the net, spend a day on the phone (better) or go to a good impartial broker.
There is absolutely no discernible logic to the way insurance companies draw up quotes, and each person's details are going to be different, resulting in wildly different quotes for two people in seemingly similar circumstances.
