I dont really see what people dont like about the e36 to be honest. I doubt anyone who has driven the M3 GT would have a bad word to say about it

Yeah looks nice but I wouldn't pay £99,000 for any E36. Just not the same quality as an E30.

Andys got nasty skin burns from many years of e30 ownership.

Doc told him to stay away from fibreglass.

the alpenis is a nice motor and a serious contender for Q car status!!!
But as prooven on a test drive, a 3ltr e36 4dr is just too much temptation to resist!

The E36 is probably a better handling car due to the rear suspension, and may even be better built due to later technology in the manufacture, but I still by far prefer the looks of the E30. Nice the e36 may be, but I wouldn't swap for one...

E36's are council chav badly built pooh

i hate working on most of the E36's that roll through our workshop, coz they're just pants and there's bits hanging off everywhere, squeaks, rattles, you name it

except there's a minter 328i Sport Auto Coupe, loaded up in arctic silver, and an M3 Evo Saloon, also on Arctic silver, absolutely mint. those 2 i would love, but for some reason, the E36 has never won the same affection as the E30 for me

i apologise now to Andyboy and jonb who love E36's

Ditto Stuart! Most E30's we get in are nicely looked after (we have one in with 20k on the clock) but 90% of the E36's are horrible!
Nothing against E36's they can look great (Estoril blue M3, red 328 sport or imola red M3 GT please!!) Just most of the time, they seem poorly built and lacking in character. I suppose that could be said of the lower end E30 models also though.

Cant stand the e30 sicks (e36) :puke: , When i was looking for a bmw i decided on a e30 325 instead of a e36 325/328 , Better handling and all round car imo , The e36 is the poor mans e30 isnt it :poke: This is my opinion and im not looking to start a arguement about them , Obviously im gonna favour a e30 on a e30 forum as e36 owners will favour theres , Ill get my coat now

Obviously you havent found one with no body rust yet then! Buy one of those, look after it, and your problems are solved (for a while at least).

And you dont have to drive an e36 winkeye (actually i really like the e36, unlike most zoners i recon it is the better car, just lacking in 'specialness').

I think if you find a nice clean well looked after e36 you cant go wrong, after years of e30 m3 and a couple of 325 sports, last June I got my first e36 3.0 m3, fitted a schnitzer suspension kit from rossiters and havent looked back.
Its fast, smooth, comfy, and not too heavy on fuel, I love it! very easy car to live with and you just blend into the background, bits are cheap and easy to get too.
I love the look of the e30 but it feels old now.
Steve.

i dont know what this 'specialness' is in e30's or 'kudos' and 'better driver experience' that i keep hearing about with regards to e30's :? its a decent built solid car but nothing special in my eyes. same with the e36. they are just decent cars, nothing special.

ooh, quick, you'd better go hide before the e30 fanboys come allong

i like e30s because i like how they look, and i like the slightly old fasioned feel. i like that the major controlls feel directly connected. i hate modern cars with their over light power steering, over servo'd brakes and clutched which feel like you're sqeezing a damp sponge.

i have no doubts at all that an e36 is 'better' in almost every way, i just don't like them and i don't want one.
cheers,

harry

Ditto harry_p.
Don't care if the E36 is better or not, I have what I want, don't want an E36, and won't be getting one. And yes, I have tried one.
I have no problem at all with people saying the E36 is better, if that's what you like, go and get one.
