HELP ME PLZ B4 i pull my hair out

i have a e30 316 k reg tourer auto when i try to start the car i get nothing no fuel pump noise and no cranking but on the dash a light between the handbrake lights comes on any ideas plz help the wife is shouting at me to get it running thanks

immobiliser?
make sure it's in park before starting (auto box inhibitor switch could also be faulty)

Black box sounds like an OE BMW alarm/immobiliser.

The immobiliser connection was at a white two pin socket with green wires going to it at the top front of the glovebox area.

There should be more lights than that on with the ignition and engine not running.

Right, making a bit more sense now!
Make sure the gear selector is in park, remove the cover from the diagnostic connector in the engine bay(large round 20 pin connector), and short together pins 11 and 14 with a short piece of wire. This should make the engine crank over.
If it does, turn on the ignition and the car should start.
Make sure you identify the two pins correctly.
