As many of you may already know, I had the misfortune to have my car stolen (and then subsequently recovered but smashed up) from a car park where I work in Cwmbran (near Newport) in South Wales. For the last week or so, I have been using an alternative car but decided today to use my other 318is for the first time (had no other alternative). Parked up at 9.30, checked the car at 1.00 (call it paranoia!) and found that some t*at had already had a go at the passenger door lock! As the door could not be locked, I had to take the car to the police station, report the attempted theft and then leave it there for the rest of the day.

I now have no other choice but to avoid using E30's for everyday transport. Are they becoming a serious chav magnet? Or I am just unlucky?

p.s. Does anyone fancy setting up a trap to catch and launch the thief of the top storey of the car park?

Crikey mate, that sounds like crappy luck to me! Did you have alarms fitted ? Not that it always makes any difference!

I'm feeling for you, had cars broken into / stolen myself.

I hope their knobs fall off! :x

Agreed. I would get a 3-4 man crew, well stocked with an asortment of sporting weapons. I.e Golf clubs (7 iron) Alumimium baseball bat, cricket bat, hockey stick. And wait for anyone to try and force entry to your car. Wearing hockey masks id bash the living shit out of them! They all need to know what the meaning of cause and effect. You try and steal my car your gona get hurt badly.

I would then make an annonimous phonecall and get them an ambulance. Cos im kind like that. :x

Thats f*cking savage. Pikey scum.

Find them and kill them. Plenty of mineshafts in wales to drop them down once you've hacked them up.

Cut out their tongues and remove all their teeth then... though actually you dont need either of them to eat pot noodles...

Either way, if the bottom of mineshafts is good enough for half the cars I've owned.... it must be good enough for a couple of dismembered bodies...

Remote central locking (the dead locking type) and leave your car open.. Hide in the bushes and when they sit there trying to jump start it - lock the car & set fire to it!! err, I mean call the police

I feel for you mate...really do...
I've had cars/audio stolen in the past, and believe me I wouldn't let the bastards live if i cought them...

I also know from past experience, that the people will normally go back to the same place if they think they may find the same car, or other cars of interest.... this B*s*r*d clearly targetted your workplace, so I'd say he will be back....
There's 2 options for you really:-
1. to cover yourself.... get your workplace (if it's their car park) to have someone monitor the cars as a spait of break-ins will warrant employers to take some responsibility
2. Take your car in...get a few friends to wait close by in a car... and you know the rest!!!

option 1 will normally results in employers wiping their hands off it...
option 2 will normally mean alot of waiting, as even the stupidest thiefs don't call back straight away!!!!

As I say, I've been in these situations, and the pain will take a long time to heal...the anger even longer!!!
But i'm sure there are plenty people on this site who can give you a hand!!!

..hope the e30 doesn't get any more bother!!!

i would call the ambulance and wait till he gets out of hospital and bash him in again for trying to steal your car for a 2nd time!!!! well by then he would have been tryin for a 3rd time... so we have to call the ambulance again and wait outside the hosp one more time!

I was lucky/unlucky enough to catch someone who had stolen my 205GTi (bought my first e30 with the insurance money so a bit of a bonus) a few years ago. I ended up coming off worse than the fookin idiot who had stolen my car, he took me to court for assault! (Cheeky B*****D) the british justice system sucks.
The Police sent me a letter 2 days after the car was stolen saying their investigation was over and here is your incident number to claim on your insurance. It only took me another 2 days to find out who had pinched it.

They did an interesting anti hijack accessory for an E30 in S Africa a few years ago. Involved a bottle of propane and some tubing.

I've seen that anti car jacking kit and it look's MIIIIIINT, shame they won't let us use them in this country, like those steering wheel locks which pump out 250,000 volts when someone tries to tamper with it. That would stop the thieving b****ds in thier tracks
