E30 325i Sport Gearbox

How do I tell what box it is? It came from an early 325i sport but I can't see any markings on the case

If you bung it in first and rotate the output b one revolution whilst counting the number of times the input turns.
It should come out at 3.81 i.e. just under 4 turns. Think the non-sport 'box turns a significant amount more than this so it's a reasonably good method of checking.
No doubt someone will come up with an actual good wat though

cheers mate, will check that tommorrow. Anyone know if the Early/late Gearbox/diff ratio's the same on the sports?

I'm pretty sure they are same. Sport box had a different serial number to a normal box! but it eludes me! try the dealer they might help?
