Will a K&N induction kit mess up the running on my otherwise standard 325i or is it a complete waste of time and money?! remember reading in a bmw mag a while ago that they're good for 10 bhp on an e30.

A K&N 57i kit is seen as making the car run worse and loosing power.

You're best off with a K&N replacement panel filter, or a BMC Carbon Dynamic Airbox (Spelling?) but they are expensive!!

:)

Or leave it standard. You could drill holes in the bottom of the airbox - before the filter - to get more induction roar, plus it's free.

I'd love to know where the power figures come from.

They're always so outlandish which means that someone just makes them up, and then lies when they publish the figures!

Grrrrr.

can't remember which mag it was in but was probably pbmw or tbmw. They did a load of mods to a standard E30 (throttle bodies, exhaust, chip etc) and recorded the power increase for each one on a dyno before putting the car back to standard for the next mod. They did it as a series that ran over a few issues. A mate of mine has a few of them I'll have to annoy him until he digs them out for me!

I've got a spare air box so i drilled some holes in it and fitted it.

It makes quite a decent noise, not massivley loud like a renault 19 16v but enough to sound non standard.

I drilled the holes in the side that faces the inner wing so as to not get loads of hot air in.

What are peoples experiences of removing the plastic 'trumpet' thing that fits in the air box lid next to the AFM.. good or bad

It's important and u will lose the torque, creates a swirling effect of the air :mad: . But i that on here
