The E46 is now being Councilled up in ever increasing numbers - Lexus lights, fake 23 inch Halfords 'loys, anal eyes, Norn Iron number plates and all the other shit CHD's think looks good but which in fact makes them look like an attention seeking "HELLO" reading dickhead. The E36 is slowly coming out of its Council phase but sadly the E36 Convertible seems to be getting worse as they fall into the hands of the croozin' Bruvvas. Innit?

Yup, time will tell though... give it a few years and the good ones will last while the chavved up sheds will all die in their rightful resting place, the scarpyard/insurance write off hell.

What does CHD mean? :o: I'm guessing CH stands for council house....

I had a mk1 mondeo... I bought it when it was 4 years old, on finance. Paid 4369 (or rather should have paid 4369, I only paid a 500 deposit) for a 1.8 16v in old man green.

sprayed the grill, wingmirrors, rubstrips and sills in rattle can silver... never paid a single installment, and wrote it off a week before they reposessed it...

Worst car I have ever owned, above 90mph it felt like the front wheels weren't touching the road. On a mud track rallying session I elongated a bolt hole on a lower front wishbone and from then on had to turn the wheel about 30 degrees to the left every time I braked to keep it in a straight line...

Was fun though, and we all do things we are ashamed of when we're young... and oh boy am I ashamed of what i did to that car, visually, financially and physically...

I was only 20... in my defence.

When I had my e36 I was jealous of e30s...

now in my e30 I am jealous of e36's.

The e30 is closer to a sports car.
The e36 is more of a GT.

This thread could be called Linda Lusardi Vs Jordan...

Linda is older and more refined and with a certain but difficult to articulate quality.
Jordan gives more bang per buck yet is obvious.

I'd have one of both.

I worked for a Ford dealer in early 1993 when the Mondeo came out. Until then Ford had gone through a period (about 50 years) of making absolute shit, the latest and worst of which was the 1991 Escort.
Everyone who drove the Mondeo was amazed at just how incredibly good it was. Before that, the Peugeot 405 was seen as the benchmark for handling and ride but the Mondy edged it out. For a Ford it was nothing short of a revelation and the Zetec engine (particularly the 1.8) was good too. I used to really enjoy driving these but sadly time has not been kind to them. The Mark 2 was a bit of a styling disaster and the 2000 Mondeo Mark 3 (for which I went to the press launch in StTropez) always felt a bit big and heavy.

Oh, CHD = Council House Dwellers :D

kinda like supernanny vs. kelly brook.... you'd do both, but in very different ways.

(Yes I know... supernanny... 'get on the naughty step'.... ok... as long as we can both be naked.... you know you would, you're in denial if you say you wouldnt)

Linda Lusardi needs stripping naked, smearing in cherry yoghurt and licking clean. She's 43, and you most definitely still would. Several times. Oh yes.

Jordan needs shooting.

It's that simple.

It was a joke car for years, derided by the masses.

It's cool again. But it still drives the same... shit... but with character... ie danger!

as a CHD I should find that offensive... but I dont... all my neighbours are scum and I hate living here.... but for £200 a month for a 3 bed house with garden and private cctv controlled car park... i cant complain.

Plus my household has an income from an actual job which puts me 10 rungs above the rest of the dolescum c**ts around here.

Mondeo's... handle well?! Are you serious???

Very. They were a very well regarded car back in the day but, like anything else they wear out and become slacker than the Queen Mum.

young! Thank you.... thats almost as pleasing as the time I was id'd for alcohol at 27 years old... I could have hugged the poor unsuspecting cashier...

But yes, I admit I'm a tad council... I like to think of myself as upper class council though.... I can spell.

Your taxes pay for me to live in a 3 bed house, with a household income close to 20k a year (3yr old kids, she works... come september the income will go up to 40k when I can work), yet still pay pennies for rent... I'll f*cking drink to that. :P

I'm Council through and through. It's only when one removes an E32 engine and gearbox in a car park with a trolley jack before carrying the booty (doors, bonnet, autobox...) across the road to one's (fully paid for) residence that one realises the true extent of one's councilness, what what?

Dreadfully common. :D

I just swapped an engine and loom in my car park, have a 316 engine in my garden and a stripped 325 engine behind my car, leaking oil into the car park drain.... do I qualify?
