hi everyone. im curently retro fitting an obc to my 86 325i cab. ive read the tech article which is great and various past threads aswell.
There isnt any illumination on any of the unit. I know there is a bulb gone behind the display and that they are 6v and wired in series so i need one to replace it. The bulbs are soldered in so is it best to buy the new bulb carrier or just bulbs? and if so where do i get the bulbs from? does anybody have a broken obc with good bulbs i could buy?
Also there is no illumination to the bulb behind the buttons, the bulb is fine so could anybody point me in the right direction of the wire i need to trace please?
And what is the yellow wire for that comes out of the obc unit with a connector on the end? this is not connected. sorry about the amount of questions, thanks

yellow wire isnt used on your car...its for some mad heater thingy

you can solder new bulbs into the unit. the bmw replacement part is £22 i think.

this has been covered very recently...do a search and you will find the bulbs to use in the other thread.

Maplins, look in their catalogue, there's only one bulb that really is anything like the standard. You'll have to dispense witht he old bulb holders and just solder the bulb direct. I've recently done the same for an E28 OBC. Including unsoldering the old bulbs, it took 5 minutes. 10 if you include heating the soldering iron up. Such an easy job, no need to visit BMW.
