As regular readers of this forum will know by now, my M20 head is coming off next week to be replaced. Whilst everything is off, i'd like to take the opportunity to do something with the injectors. Question is, what?

Options are:

1. Get the existing ones ultrasonically cleaned - what's the going rate for this to be done? Probably the cheapest option, but i'll still be left with that anoying ticking that drives me up the wall.

2. Renew them with brand new of the same type - megabucks i expect from BMW and they'll probably still tick.

3. Replace them with a different type - there was much discussion about this on the old forum - many went for the E36 M3 ones i think, then it was concluded that these could cause problems. So what's the latest advice on this? Also, where can i get them from and how much?

Just get them ultrasonically cleaned Pete.

New ones are over Ԛ£100 each. You'll never get rid of the ticking unfortunately even with brand new injectors. Cleaning will cost you about Ԛ£80 at most places although you will find cheaper.

Remember to replace all the o-rings too.

I thought they were about Ԛ£70 each down my way at the dealer still not the best price in the world, that also maybe + VAT still not great but better. What sort of company does this ultrasonically clean them then, just curious :D .

I know someone at my dealership and have the latest prices. That price is for Bosch ones, if you have Lucas ones fitted then I belive these are slightly cheaper. Perhaps he gave you the price for Lucas?

Deffo get them cleaned Pete, I had the ones in the sport done for Ԛ£35 when they were out, and made quite a difference, you won't ever get the flow rate back upto 100%, but all of the ones I had done were between 92% and 98%, especially noticable when one was only flowing at 38% before cleaning.

GSF sell the bosch injectors too, still expensive, but nowhere near what the dealers charge...Ԛ£40ish each I think.
