hi im new to e30 zone and bmw's i have been looking into modding my 320i and have all ready fitted a 325 throttle body new exhaust new air filter and chip all the usual but i was looking at my 320 last night and wondering how you go about dechroming the front grill ??
do you remove the chrome or spray it with satin black?
do i need a plastic primmer or can i just rough it up and paint it ??

any advice greatly appreciated thanks

I just rubbed mine with some 400 grade wet and dry, used normal primer and satin black spray.
Been on a couple of months now and it's fine, apart from one small stone chip which I'll touch in or give it another coat of black sometime.

Spray the whole grill i.e. the already black bits with the same paint as you use on the chrome. This should give a better end result.

I took the complete grill off, sanded the chrome, primed, then gave the both the centre and two side grilles some coats of satin black. Doing the whole grille will ensure it all matches nicely.

Good luck. :D
