Pete was always a nice and helpfull zoner from what i experienced. People just used to wind him up, its easy to form sad little internet gangs on here.

Im not contesting it, but what was he banned for doing?

Ok, im sure that there is a list of people on here that thought he was a bit of a cock sometimes.

But i doubt that any of them wanted him banned. And i didnt see him say anything that we havent said in the past.

How long before this thread gets locked. :)

perhaps thats how he got himself banned

he broke the rules
remember the FAO thread

he couldnt control his language
he wasnt just banned outright
he was given his warnings
and didnt take note

rules are not meant to be broken
they are there for a reason

Pete's got problems away from the computer and certain things posted here pushed him over the edge a bit.
I'm not condoning his behaviour on the thread in question and I can't comment on the thread because I didn't read it before it was pulled.
I have to agree with
if your face don't fit...............
There are certain members here who seem to be able to get away with far more than others who have been warned or banned.
.....And yes, there is a strong possibility that Pete will be defecting to the dark side.
On the whole, as has already been posted on this thread, Pete is as sound as a pound. If anyone specifically wants to contact Pete, you can do it by PM'ing me.
Stuart.

I think Twiggy ultimately was the author of his own misfortune in the end, when the mods started with the 2 strikes whatever. He had been wound up by other members and when told to cool it he was still steaming.

The damage is done now and people won't sort this out for sake of losing face, but really he should have just been sat on the naughty chair and allowed back into the action once he'd cooled off.

Cant he just re-register under a different name, and start posting again? Would be good for him to see this thread, im sure more zoners would be in favour of him on here than against. From what i saw he was wound up by a select few regular zoners. (who of course wont be banned)

Most forum programs will let you ban the ip address, email address and name(s).

He could change his ip with a simple free application but thats down to him (and a quick google search for 'ip changer') to decide...

Um actually simian IP addresses are refreshed everytime you connect to the internet, except for me at work because work pays for a static address. Back in the old days of dial up modems it was a nightmare.

These days with broadband most people don't disconnect enough to notice, but if you turn your router off your IP will be assigned to the next person to connect to your ISP, turn it on and you'll be allocated the next available IP in a list.

I think your thinking of a proxy server, which I use at work to view naughty sites! and you can use to slightly disguise your IP if your not clever enough to turn it off then on again!

There is nothing to lose face over by anyone.

Your first paragraph is spot on, he was warned and warned but would not listen.

It is a shame but the lunatics cannot be allowed to run the asylum (as the saying goes).

I liked the Twiglet
Some would have done as has been suggested and banned him for a couple of days and others used it as a good excuse to get rid off him as he wasn't in the 'clan' and often fell-out with those that were.
Has he been banned permanently or is this a temporary thing?
I'm sure he will be reading this and laughing his nuts off at this and maybe even wiping away a tear at the warmth from his former comrades 'after the affect' :?
It won't be long before we all get told off for discussing this 'quick i hear sir coming'

As in my post above
There are certain members here who seem to be able to get away with far more than others who have been warned or banned.

I have been a member of E30 zone for 3 years (on the old forum in those days). I have enquired of the "powers that be" more than once why it is that certain people can get away with posting in a manner that I could construe as offensive and yet I have had several posts either removed or edited with no explanation (Only once have I publicly dissed, flamed or been discourteous to any other member). As yet, I have never even had a response to my enquiries.
So, IMHO, the Mods and Admin here are allowing the lunatics to run the asylum, as you put it.
Admin, it's over to you......

Let's see what happens to this post. I've taken a copy just in case it gets edited or deleted.

What I am saying really is that although he was given warnings, it was obvious the lad was charged up at the time and I think that a greater degree of discretion could have been used other than an outright ban.

I believe in the cold light of day that the ultimate decision was the wrong one, but that my "saving face" reference was implying that it would then send the wrong message or cause future bickering if the decision was to now be reversed.

I appreciate the time you lads put into this place and it remains the best forum I visit and I still feel welcome even though I remain E30-less :)

I dont see why this post would be edited or deleted
its a good healty discussion

but the minute it turns like most of twiggy's threads did
I.e. insulting, slagging people off and foul language
when he didnt get his own way
it will be

this place isnt a school playground
so why some people feel the need to act like it is beyond me
