right i jumped in the car just before, set off to get some breakfast 3 mins down the road my temp needle went wooooosh off the scale, pulled over heaters blowing on full but nothing but cold air, poped the bonnet engine roasting hot, top water pipe solid as me in the morning  the rest warm/cold ish, went to take off the cap and i could hear bubbling so i step'd back 3 paces let it settle and unscrewed the cap right off only to be met with a fcuking volcano erupting from the header tank
so what do you think it could be waterpump??? thermostat???

Sounds like it could be the water pump, seeing as it warmed up SO quickly.

If the water isn't moving round the engine it will get hot very very quickly.

This could be the reason for the heaters blowing cold also...... :?

Might be the thermostat though

That's exactly what happened to mine, although I didn't notice the temp so carried on driving until the hose split. I changed the thermotwat and the water flump at the same time to be on the safe side. The thermostat was Ԛ£20 and the water pump was only Ԛ£13 so it was worth doing just incase.

No hot air from the heater = Air lock

When you fill it try putting the ignition on and the heater on full hot to open the electrically operate heater valve.

right iv changed the thermostat,
put water in ran the heaters as i was doing it, temp stays cold so i took it for a spin and same again, 1 min down the road temp needle wooooosh again, and same again top hose rock solid and as hot as my lass, off with the cap, volcano,
so the water pump is now out and the new one is sitting in the kitchen waiting to go on in the morn

i dont see how it could of been an air-lock in the first place as its ran fine up untill today, iv had no pipes off or anything i use it every day aswell
