blues/non stretch torque

as title ,gonna build up my spare engine and fit some metric-blues,with o.e gasket (f.i).stock bolts(hex)are 60-65 newts,what are you guys doing eem up to....80 rings a bell? :D

is a re-torque required,hex bolts need but torx dont?i am pressuming hex is non stretch bolt and later torx are stretch bolts?

i done mine to 70 ftb torque for my head bolts which are the same grade as metric blues

Did you retorque bolts after running?

80ftlb's wound in on my 12.9's, gave them a good run up to temp and retested, they didn't need any nippng up afterwards.

Something I'll double check before I wind the boost up again tho :D

not a case of a nip up Mark,loosen each bolt individual and retighten upto xx amount?

75 or 80 Graham... mines 75, that was after i done them to 80 on my 2.7 block and tore the block threads apart.. :cry: ... havent checked them since...

right seems 80 is the magic figure...got some of that vht copper cement the u.s lads use...so should hold a bit.
think ill retorque mine thinkin about it....best practice...thx all :cool:

Graham,

I just checked them to see if they'd slackened off at all, nothing obvious was showing, having had it running for a few hours now I may recheck them when I find some free time.

I've not come across any info that said to undo then retighten them after a warm up tho.

Have I missed something? :D

no m8 just using non stretch bolts it is normal to retorque bolts after a certain period....seems you guys aint ...not a problem ,but i will retorque mine.
