Hi
HELP!
Has any one got a copy of the wiring diagram for 91 320 caddy ?
i fitted new hood motor ok and can set it up to work ok but only if you keep your finger on the open or close button for the full cycle .
if you stop it and restart it haft way though , the motor lever over travels , (ie into the hood cover lift position and pass the micro switch cut off position and and will put pressure on the casing , but it works find if you dont lift off !
i want to see a diagram and work out wether it s set up / micro switch or control box problem
Power hood wiring diagram needed ?

Hi petrol-1,
It sounds like the microswitches on the new motor are not set up correctly.
Try disconnecting the drive rods and powering the motor direct from the battery using a length of cable. Disconnect the plug to the black box in the boot and using a test meter you can set the microswitch limits in both directions. Reconnect the drive rods with the hood flap disconnected and open/close the hood to check your settings.
Repeat if necessary and bobs your auntie.
It has worked for me several times.

Thanks for advice
Done most of that , can alter micro switchs and set start & stop limits ok .
I can set up the micro switchs and get the lever starting /stoping ok , but it works ok ONLY if the up or down buttom is kept pressed all the way thought a complete cycle
But what i am trying to do is to stop the drive levers going past the last micro switch (the S1 one which stops the powered drive lever from rotating and starts the lid lifting)= this only occurs if u stop and restart the process between the rear hood raise as it will damage the motor casing because it drives the lever against 2nd lever against the alloy spigot /casing which then breaks
If you lift off the button in the middle of the cycle even if the s1 micro switch has clicked and stopped the lever and started the lid motor/ chatchs undoing, then lift off and restart my main hood motor restarts and drives all the way TILL IT HITS THE MOTOR CASING (as though its forgotten that the s1 micro switch has operate , the micro switch is ok could it be a fault on the control box or do they all do this and break the alloy spigot/ motor casing ?
hence i wanted a wiring diagram to check the control units
also the micro switch on the near side lever / frame mech which operates when the hood is fully down , whats its for ?

The microswitch on the near side frame is the indicator that the hood frame is in the down and fully stowed position.
This could be your problem if it is not functioning??
Only connect the operating rods when you are sure all the motor actions are operating correctly.
It is best to lash up a battery feed to the hood electrics to test it independent of the control box.
Then test it with the control box connected and the rods off moving the hood manually.
If all ok then connect it all back up and hopefully it should all work.
Patience is the key with these mechanisms.
Testing your patience is what they do.
