After finding my BBS RS003s didn't clear my WMS 4 pots I had to have a quick re-think about wheels.

Ultimately I decided on Porsche Design 90s, powdercoated black with a diamond cut lip. They're lightweight (hollow spokes) and masses of caliper clearance. I'm running 4 x 8J which are rears from a 944 S2. First fitment with them sitting at ET22 is good for the fronts but the rears need to come out at least another 10mm, or I need to get a pair of 9" as fitted to the 911 Turbo rear.

It's getting there though - pic is straight after dropping off the jack and it's settled better now.

4th set of wheels for a car that hasn't moved is pretty good going I reckon. :D

Me thinks the 9's on the back Ste. Will you be losing the stretched tyres?

Ace wheels, but much prefer them with a polish/chrome finish! the Hartges where the danglies though!

How much can you pick theese wheels up for nowadays? Also how much are the adapters and what size did you need?

It's been to Northampton on a trailer dude - however, it will be moving under its own power on Tuesday when the finishing touches are erm, finished. MOT on Saturday and then the TIE fighter will be lose on the streets.

Do you still have the springs boss? Understand if you flirted them elsewhere as I forgot I was supposed to be collecting. :D

Prices vary quite a bit - you have to check exactly which D90s you're looking at too. They made them in 6", 7", 8" and 9" in varying offsets.

Adapters retail for £230ish for H&R ones. I wouldn't trust some of the cheaper ones (FK for instance).

Love the wheels Ste altho i'd definitely should think about a pair of 9J's on the back. Do they have more of a lip, that would be even better.

Neil - you are a star. It's the BMW curry meet in my village on Tuesday - if you want to pop over then you can have some scran too and I'll buy you a beer - the car *should* be moving under its own power too so I may even be able to give you a spin. :D

Looks fooking pimp, love it!

If you cant find any 9's my friend who owns a precision engineering firm, makes custom sized adaptors to order at a great price, he could do you some wider one's for the rear.

I like 'em, i want a set of these or some 928 rims for next summer although i want them polished. Anyway Its good to see some one being different, the E30 scene needs to move on a bit to catch up with VW boys.

How can you put Porsche wheels on a BMW?

Very odd.

I think some 17in Alpina copies would suit it far more than wheels off another make  .

Cheers Bri

the car looks slick.
nothing wrong with porsche rims on a bm!
either needs to sit alot lower at the back or get th 9Js, front looks spot-on though.
my mate had some of these on his corrado and they looked the mutts on that too
im really starting to like tourings now!

how dare you put wheels from something so crap on a sacred e30.

tbh you should put standard brakes on and go to 14in bottletops. the e30 is the greatest car ever made straight from the factory and really doesnt need all these silly mods.

hth
cheers,

Loving the D90s. They remind me of the forged Le Castallet VW alloys on the Mk2 Campaign Golf.

Agree with you that the rears don't look quite right but a bit of messing about with spacers or a wider tyre will sort it.
