it doesnt matter what level of cover you have, if all mods aren't declared, they can confiscate your car and crush it if you dont/cant pay.

You have always had to declare all mods, performance or cosmetic. The increase in cost depends on thousands of factors. there is no set figure for certain mods.
Some policies cover the mods like for like, so if they have to be replaced you get the same thing back, some dont. The latter tends to be cheaper.

think of it this way
you have a 316 who,s gonna teef it?
same car with tech kit/nice wheels etc becomes more of a risk than a boggo standard
as simian says you have always had to declare but theres always been many that have kept quiet
but nowdays insurance are way more clued up and if they see a way out of paying they wnt hesitate
to take it

I'm not p*ssed off, just amazed at some peoples ignorance. If you are into modified cars, you really need to be clued up on the law, and your rights. Because at some point, some arsehole pig will take their bad day out on you and you will need to use this knowledge. I appreciate you are young, but thats no excuse for ignorance.beemer_twins wrote:ok then sorry for getting you pisd off
Its been all over the papers and news recently. The police have new cameras that will read your numberplate, and within half a second tell the plod in the car if you have insurance, tax, mot or if the registered keeper has a history of driving without the above.
There's no way out these days, and with so many little c***s in corsas with combat kits driving around like complete f*ckwits at 'kroozes' they are tarring all modified cars with the same brush and targeting anything that looks remotely non-standard.
Rant over, dont take it too personally. You are one up from the c***s in corsas in my eyes, you have a bmw

I use to work in a crash repair garage and they went over cars in great detail lookig for mods etc that were not claimed. They even use to get us to put a car through an mot test to see if it was road worthy if the damage was not to serious. All this was done to get out of paying a claim and you can bet there were a few that was told sorry we are not paying and you will owe the other party a few thousand as well.Declare everthing or do not put it on in the first place.

Guys. Dudes. Bredrens.
Sell / get rid of the car. I know it seems crazy when you're 18 years old to just throw a whole car away - I know it's probably the center of your world right now. But it will cost 3 times as much as going out and finding a clean E30. Seriously.
You know it's fun hunting for a nect car anyway so do it.
As far as this:
Before you all freak out I'm not talking about stealth cars with invisible tweaks underneath the hood. I'm talking styling and ICE tweaks that the owners think are tasteful. Just beacuse it's an E30 cab or a Corsa that looks more at home at RAF Northault - IT"S WRONG.
Star. Y'get me.
Now every man just slow ya roll ta blouse and skirt, none of you mans can buss true lyric anyway.
Chiefs.

There is NO diffference between these guys and ANYONE who mods BMW's. It's the ACT of modding that is lame not what car you mod.simian wrote:There's no way out these days, and with so many little c***s in corsas with combat kits driving around like complete f*ckwits at 'kroozes' they are tarring all modified cars with the same brush and targeting anything that looks remotely non-standard.

everyone told me i was mad to do my last project and should have just scrapped it. it just made me more determined to finish it. i did eventually but it took 8 years and cost over £28000 as everything snowballs and leads on to more work(and cost) it was a good feeling when i finally finished it and was able to drive it again and prove them wrong but it ended up far more expensive than i had ever planned. i dont regret it though

i didnt think they would go to the extreme of stripping down an engine to get out of a claimtristan325 wrote:F#@kMe look what I started! LOL. Had tell another lad in Golf GTi today that his policy was void for not declaring his Shrick cam! These loss adjustors are VERY clued up!!

If the adjustor's suspect that there are undeclared mods they will start ripping into a car. It's little things that the give game away to them. This guy had an adjustable vernier pulley and no cambelt cover. If he'd bothered to put the cambelt cover back on he probably wouldn't have been caught out.fuzzy wrote:i didnt think they would go to the extreme of stripping down an engine to get out of a claimtristan325 wrote:F#@kMe look what I started! The moral of the story is basically if your gonna do it declare or make very sure it looks standard and doesn't raise suspicion.

Can you not get replacement sill sections for e30's???DanThe wrote:
Dont be so harsh Pete, its worth a bit of red welding at least
I worked on a project today, and it come with replacement sill sections for inside the car footwell, as well as under the car....made the job really easy as all we had to do was cut away the rusted area....wire brush and remove any traces of rust remaning...and then weld the new panels into place....made it so easy not having to shape the sections that were being welded in...
I was wondering if there was somewhere that made parts like that for the e30.... it's definately popular enough...!!!
The car I worked on was a mini (old one) and the owner wanted it restoring.... we have lots of people on this forum, and others world wide.... surely there's enough demand for this sort of part...considering most e30 will suffer from sill damage...from my experience normally at the front, but a panel like that would replace the whole section, and save countless e30's from the scrapper!!

all the panels are available to repair this
the snag is the damage is also to all 4 jacking points and well theu to the carpet etc
so unless they have some big money to waste its a false economy to fix this car
and you can guarentee every hole found will triple in size when cleaned up
would be far easier and cheaper to replace with a better car

I think people need to re adjust their attitudes slightly on this forum. A new member joins and asks for some genuine advice and gets completely ripped to shreds both about his car and personally. There is nothing wrong with winding up established forum members but some young kid comes on here with his first E30 and a simple question and basically gets bullied, which makes you complete pricks in my opinion. He hasn't insulted anyone, his car doesn't seem too bad (I mean honestly, how many E30's are there left without a bit of rust nowadays?) as it has a bit of rust that can be patched up to fight another year, and they seem like nice enough lads, showing an interest in proper cars rather than kitted saxo's corsas etc. I think you all need to stop being so fucking rude to new members and thinking you know it all when you clearly don't. rant over.

Ollies you have no interest in E30's anymore. All you do is moan about the whole scene. Your a skinny little bitch who is full of it. Yet the one meet you came to, you were quiet as.
Why the f**k are you on here? apart from taking potshots all the time?
