More relevant to members in the south wales area but if anyone can help, my 318is was stolen from a car park where it is parked most days in Cwmbran where I work. The details are: reg number H819 FDP, in alpine white II, totally standard but with plenty of extras including rear headrests, full electrics etc. Well gutted as I have owned it for the last 8 years and spent over £2000 on it over the last 12 months. I was planning to sell it over the next few months once i sourced a car to do the 350 weekly work mileage but it looks like someone has helped themselves!

The car still had it's original factory alarm / immobiliser but I guess that's not really a major obstacle for a determind thief. It was taken during the morning / afternoon so i guess it may have been nicked for parts or to order rather than as a joyride.
I'll post the last few digits of the vin number when i get home in case it helps.

If you think it has been stolen for bits other than joyride which will become apparent in the next couple of days if it does not turn up,keep watching e-bay,classifieds etc.
Might even be worth posting an advert in the local paper for BMW pits wanted you never know.
Good luck hope it turns up i would swing the axe for you and cut the fuckers fingers off if caught.....ne bother!

Cheers for the responses guys - offers a bit of encouragement as the police did'nt seem all that bothered when I reported it. I hope the insurance company are more sympathetic when it comes to a valuation but I somehow doubt it.
Just in case it does turn up somewhere, the chassis number of this car was 46950. It's more annoying to think that it may have ended up just being trashed - I'd rather have broken it up myself and given away the parts (among which were brand new m tech springs and shocks, mint interior with all the original fittings etc etc etc
I'm toying with the idea of leaving my other IS in the same car park and waiting around the corner with my trusty sledge hammer ....

Thats Bad news - my old man once dropped the Keys of my iS and it then got nicked the next day -
i thought id never see it again as it had leather LSD etc, fortunalty the locals kept an eye out for it and found it a couple of roads away with a burned out clutch....let all know in the local area and beyond to keep an eye out....never know you might get lucky and get it back.

gutted for you mate but it might have been stolen by joyriders or a junky type needing a ride home after picking up his 'medicine' rather than for parts as i think there would be far more profitable cars out there for that sort of thing.didnt the car park have any security cameras? the police dont care and wont look for it and only tend to find them when they are brought to their attention for other reasons.all they will do is issue you with a crime number for insurance purposes.we had a car stolen once and that turned up a couple of weeks later when it was found abandoned with no fuel in a housing estate. police reckoned theyed just needed it to get home then left it once the fuel ran out.luckily for us they didnt torch it. maybe if you try telling the local police that you had no tax or mot on it? then they will hunt it down like dogs until they find it so they can issue you with a fixed penalty ticket
Update:
Just had a call from the police to say that my car has been recovered from Newport and is still in one piece although not sure on the exact condition it's been left in. I am going down to check it out now and I'll let you know when I get back.
All the best,
Paul.

Hi everyone,
Just been to see the car in the recovery firms compound, unfortunately not in the state I left it in on monday morning. The front passenger side has been crunched (bumper, valance, front spoiler, wing, pax door etc all damaged), few other bits bent, and a smashed windscreen but surprisingly no other bits missing other than my kids car seats(?).
I'm not sure if it's drivable or if there is much in the way of mechanical damage - I could'nt really touch it as it had not yet been relased by the scene of crimes people (so could'nt take it anyway even if I wanted to). After speaking with the police, it turns out that a guy was arrested in it last night who was wanted for a load of other more serious offences. They're not sure why my car was stolen by him but one guess is that it was probably an easier target to steal than the more modern cars in the car park. Looking at the damage to the car, i would hazard a guess that some of it had been caused by the police forcibly stopping the car (traces of blue on the front wing and the windscreen looks as if it was smashed by a single blow in the centre of the drivers side) as there were still items in the car belonging to the thief! I'll post more details when I get them but needless to say it's not looking good for my poor car
