Just got my self a 1987 320i Auto in standard trim.

Few questions!

Are they really thisrty or is mine just fecked ? Ԛ£20 gets me about 100 miles 8O

I took her for an MOT and she passed no problems.

It is using?/leaking? water, and is leaking an oily fluid of some sort.

It does not over heat and is not burning oil. (130K miles)

Ive not had a chance to take a proper look at the car as yet as i have been working.

If it was the head gasket would it have died by now ? i have done 1000miles without any problems. ?

Hi there.

Welcome!

Looks like a classic, old school e30.

Do you know where it is leaking from?

How much water is it using?

If you take off the oil cap, is there any 'mayo' there?

So long as you top the water up when it is low, and the head isn't really bad, you can drive for a while without it dying, but it's not recommened. I did that, and broke the engine completely! Although the head was quite bad.

Coolant light comes on once a week, no oil in my water or water in my oil. Could be the water pump bearings.... ? ? cant see any visible leaks.

A chap on the forum said that water pumps can leak and it's not noticeable. Try leaving the engine running to spot leaks under the bonnet.....

welcome amte, hope you enjoy it here.

the fuel econemy doesn't sound too bad, depends on wht miles you do, motorway or door to door stuff etc. doesn't sound ridiculously high but its still not the best ever, i wouldn't worry about it though, alhtough your wallet might

anyway, welcome
