Cool Motor???

I have posted this before, but have since then done some research. The motor is a 318i M40, and what happens is this: the temp gauge needle moves up to below the blue mark when you turn on the ignition, but when you start the motor, it moves onto the blue band and does not move from there. I have checked the SI board batteries and are in good nick. I have also had someone test the temp sender unit and said it is functioning fine. Could it be the previous owner has removed the thermostat? Or do you think the gauge is packing up?

Yep! Got it sorted. Changed the brown temp sensor, all works fine now. Just a bit of a bugger to get in there to change it. Also changed thermostat, cause previous one had been bodged. Temp readings are fine now...
