I'm at the design stage of my twin-sequential turbo system.

I've got the turbos, some pretty drawings and some nice ideas :)

SLOWLY getting the bits together for my 325i/S50B32 engine swap.

I have bought the project car (very clean) and 50% removed the M20B25 engine.

All the kit for my swap (minus the bits I'm yet to find/save for) are in a garden in Coventry untill I can get a van to take them to Essex (week after next) where the car is on my Mums drive.

Bits and bobs are getting organised each week but it's slow progress when you and the car are in different counties!

Last few days having been identifying a mysterious earth feedback issue which at last yesterday showed it's ugly face!! HT lead no 6 was sending the odd spark to the metal lip on the exhaust gasket, it ran for 10 min or so then died but in such a way it made me think it was def a sparks issue. Only found it when I shoved my head into the engine bay when it was getting dark, got say tho that the spark itself was huge, really impressed by these coil packs, was like looking into a arc welder when it went off!!

So just a new set of leads, some rerouting and some tuning.... until I find something else that needs fixing :D

Glad to hear other projects are coming along too, summertimes getting closer guys

Making pretty good progress. Got most of the bits I need; intercooler, plumbing, oil feed/return lines, remote mounting for oil filter, fuel delivery bits etc. The heads off at the moment to do the gaskett and fit uprated head bolts...must say the head and bores are in bloody good nick for an old motor!

Just need to get that lot back together, get the turbo overhauled (bearings feel little slack) and do whatever else needs doing to make the bugger run!

Saving up cash mainly. I've got a head, its going to be refurbed hopefully next month. The month after that, I'll be asking questions about gaskets and fitting it. That should hopefully bring my car up to perfect running and i'll be saving up for MS. Then I need to ask myself some questions about suspension/brakes vs turbo. 8)

If that's a Miller MAF you're talking about Dave, they're very easy to wire up, it's only a case of hooking up 4 wires, and you don't have to cut the original loom like the instructions suggest!

i've been polishing the bbs rc's for the last couple of weekends, and painting the centre's gold.
the evening's are starting to draw out now though so hoping to catch up a little.

i always feel guilty when i come on here cos everyone is actually doing stuff and i have done very little - BUT - some progress has been made this week - admittedly with v.little input from me - but from my mate david. this week a bracket has been fabricated for alternator relocation to right of block

car = 2.7 caged trackcar with megasquirt on sparks+fuel/schrick 284/ported head/btb etc etc

car was built with low comp for the blower - eaton m90 bought over a year ago - on sunday new bracket for alternator to be mounted on right will be fitted to the car and after fannying around with wiring we'll relocate altertanor. we'll then do a dummy fitment of blower to suss out brackets/make dummy pipes etc

still not sure whether to run intercooler but probably will as it's only really used on trackdays as it will probably get warm

just spoken to ant and he's on the case sourcing 6.5 inch pulley - aim to get the car down to him in the next few weeks for final assembly/boosted map + fitment of coilpack for wasted spark.

today i have ordered some toyos - only reason i am getting on the case is that car is booked for trackday for mid april - and i have been boring my mates about this for the last year and i just need to ****ing get on with it! winkeye

pix will be posted after weekend

E30 wise... Basically just keeping the rally turd alive and improving bits as and when I feel like it or more often, when they fail :chuckle:

Otherwise... trying to finish the kitcar blower conversion before the weather improves then I'll have the garage free for a new project winkeye Alas, it's more likely to be a house deposit than the V12 E30 I'd dearly love to build

We'll see.

My S14 Turbo project. I am awaiting for the pistons fro the states as the turbo and wastegate arrived. Then the block will be sent to get bored to 94mm to match the pistons and will take it to 2.4L. They will also balance the crank, rods, pistons, lighten and balance the flywheel as well. I will then rebuild it, my forst engine build.

Then need to get the shell caged and painted. I'll have a go at this as well.

Taking my M50 block in for a bit of a skim on monday, then organise the ballancing of the 2.8 crank and lightweight fly ready to build into it. Prop has been customised and is ready for collection, gear linkages have been shortened, just need to sort a clutch then the 6 spd will be ready and waiting for the engine 8)

After loads of delibiration i am going down the 2,8 M20 (if i can find a crank) Moving to a new house on friday where i will have a double garage :D so i can work in peace and quite (and warmth)
but in the mean time i have been dabbling away in the shed on a few carbon bits like this fuel rail cover for the M50

Image
Image

The main cover will be ready on monday but i have modified it slightly so i can spray on the BMW Mpower logo onto it so it looks like the M3 cover, should look good, but once in the new house i can start work on the big bits for the E30 (forgot to mention that part has just come out the mould and has to be trimmed so it still looks a bit rough) winkeye

Cool, where did you get your C/F from ?

Was the C/F material dry then add gel coat/resin/etc ?

mmmmm maybe Danthe let me know what you are thinking bout :D (i need more stroke :D )

Andy i use the raw carbon that comes on a roll and then use the wet layup (messy :( ) system, but you can buy prepreg which as the name suggests is preimpregnated with the resin and will start to cure when heat and pressure is added, usually in an autoclave, but the problem with that being you have to keep the rolls in a temperature controllled environment i.e. cold so that rules it out for me and you dont see many autoclaves going cheap on Ebay i use epoxy resin as i can use a specific hardener for the weather/time /size of component adding either slow medium or fast hardener, you only see gellcoat on badly made parts as they use it to fill in where the carbon hasn't gone into the tight corners and tint the clear gelcoat with black pigement but it looks crap IMO. I have seen it on some M3 mirrors .gelcoat is mainly for making moulds and for that its brilliant. If you do a search i did post up a link to my supplier

Thanks for the info

I've got one of those C/F CDA air boxs to go on and i thought it would look a bit odd on it's own so i was thinking of trying to make one or two small/simple things out of C/F in my engine bay.

A bit of an ambitious project(dreaming really) but i'd like a C/F rocker cover but would the C/F be OK with the highish temps ?
