Think unless the compression ratio's already quite low you might have some issues with running almost 1bar of boost!
If you replace the engine displacement and boost pressure you wanna run into the above calcs you'll see what's possible, although the 85% VE's a complete guess!
The other thing is that the efficiency of these little blowers degrades quite drastically the harder you push them which means it's putting more heat into the charge which isn't a great idea.

Also, the power consumption goes up a fair bit.

Geeman,
We need to be thinking turbochargers for M30's!
Does emerald management cope with turbos too?

Any idea what the compression ratio of the M30 is?
I was well happy when I found out that the M20 has a 9.7:1 ish CR and still made 170bhp
Programmable engine management is definately the way forward as far as making power from blower applications is concerned.
Ignition timing makes more of a difference to power than fueling and having control over that means having control over power

I'll see what I need to take mate!
Thing is, I've booked the Ferry now under our names, and it costs to make alterations. You'd need hotel too.
Best idea is:
Drive your car down with a mate, won't cost too much.
Ferry = 50
Hotel = 45
Petrol = 100-150
Split that by two......
Not too expensive.
Come along.
The extra costs are:
Beer/Food etc

Good lad good lad!
Will be a giggle.
Gonna make notes this time, and do a longer trip next time.
Petrol on the way is the most expensive part, so the longer you stay, the more worthwhile it is.

frosted. only pointless for a big engine like the m30, as geeman says. For my little 1.8 it's gonna turn it in to a monster
Ok, ok, no 2.7 but I'm expecting similar performance to the stock 325. Santa pod is on the road map!!!

Well, assuming that the M10 is a 1.8.....not sure if that's right
And that you only want to rev to 6500rpm (again a guess)
Also making the 85% VE assumption again:
The engine consumes about 4972.5litres/min of air.
(lots of this is based on guesswork again but if people can fill in the blanks)
Lets say you want 7psi of boost which should give about a 47% power hike
So we need a flow rate of 4972.5*1.47=7340.36 litres/min
Looking at the graphs for the M45 charger, it's well within it's operating range, the charger shouldn't put too much heat into the charge (although an intercooler is always a good idea) and also it shouldn't consume too much power
You know it makes sense! Although fueling and ignition seem to be key to getting the most out of this type of conversion so an ECU which can deal with positive manifold pressures should IMO be viewed as more of a necessity than a luxury.

Thanks for that, this looks like it could be fun! just waiting on the news on the 'chargers!
What a cool idea! Always loved superchargers since seeing Mad Max
Going with what Turbo-Brown said, I think you would need 2 M45s or 1 M62, the m30 would need 13200ish litres of air at 7psi. Got a little spreadsheet that calculates the airflow, was made by some other bloke, but its quite handy for this sort of stuff.
Clicky
Friend of mine is thinking about this for his Toyota Celica GT 2.0.. although I think the engine might blow up as its already 180bhp aspirated..
