I have been told that it is easy to convert 2dr seats to 4dr, as you are just removing the tilt mechanism, but don't think it's a simple job to covert 4dr to 2dr.

The best thing to do is to remove the back of the 2door seat, replace it's fabric (and foam) with that from the four door seat and attach it to the base of the 4 door seat.

Sounds like a pain in the a*se, but if the back frames are different, I don't see any easier solution.

Of course, this will only work if the seats are compatible, i.e. both sets are comfort seats or both sets are sport seats.

Agreed. Conversion from 2 to 4 not a problem, but I don't think the 4-door seats have a facility in them for tilt to be used.
Sorry FESI. Hope you don't carry passengers too often.
You could sell yours on Ebay and buy some from a 2-door?
Cheers

Seats from a 4 door can be made to tilt, you just need the handles, clips and the wires.

Excellent, fesi should have them in his old seat. Must say I'm surprised the 4-door seats tilt as well.

All E30 seats have the tilt mechanism - it's just not used on the four doors.
They can be converted by cutting the relevant handles and brackets off a scrap seat and fixing them to the four door, but it's not a five minute job. Alternatively, move your seat back fabric to a 2 door frame.

How did I know Brian would have the answer?
I'm starting to wonder if you're a computer rather than a human Brian. Your knowledge is astounding.
Respect mate.
