After nearly 5 years of ownership I've just discovered that my petrol cap locks with the central locking! I have to push the cap in for it to catch properly, but it's a little bonus anyway. What next??

Thats for parking on the side of the road facing oncoming traffic. having 1 light on saves the battery a bit. My mums '79 polo did this!

I only discovered last week that turning the headlight switch dims/brightens the instrument backlighting. :D
Haven't worked out what pushing the indicator stalk inwards does yet....

Did you know if you look under the plastic interior trim along the transmission tunnel between the gear stick and the dashboard you will probably find your glovebox torch if yours is missing?

A little tip - if your central locking stops working, and locks your petrol flap, you can still unlock it by going through the boot - there is a little cut out in the trim which you can poke your finger through, and press a little catch to unlock it.:D

When my central locking packed in, I managed to open the petrol flap by easing the little locking rod back with a credit card.

The more I read threads like this, the more I think some of you ought to invest in a copy of the original owner's handbook!

If your car battery goes flat in deadlock or your drivers door lock seizes up (someone tries to break in), go to the passenger door and turn the key to unlock slightly and hey prest in you go. It will move the lock motor enough to get in !

i agree with that....i found a manual in the scrappy. took it home and read lots of cool info i never knew.

including my seemingly pointless second indicator flasher on the clocks......was bugging me for weeks why it was there and why it only flashed once. its part of the towbar electrics and apparently tells me my indicators on the trailer/caravan are actually working everytime i use them.
