Hi,

On my 325i track car I fitted Bilstien Sprintline shocks and springs. The have lowered it by 40mm all round but the back seems slightly high and on some fast bends on the track it seems to 'roll' from the rear and generally feels too high.
Q: Is it just a case of putting 60mm springs on the rear or will that bugger it up ??? PS It's also poly bushed and it weighs 1020kgs, and run on 15" wheels, LSd

Have you done the bushes on the ARBs?

If so, perhaps some better ARBs is the answer?

look on the 'zone shop - the ones for sale there are well thought of, but I have no direct experience. I do know how important the correct ARB set-up is though :D

I've just spoken to Coil Springs in Sheffield who have made springs of this nature before (60mm and stiff) - they are made to order and cost £145 inc vat....

Thoughts on a post card please..

if you havent got uprated rollbars i definately recommend getting some. i bought shocks, springs, bushes, ARBs at the same time but fitted the shocks and springs first (60/40 drop) and a week or so later fitted the roll bars. the difference was very noticeable- tightened up the car alot.
seems expensive for 2 springs? or is that price for 4?
as for ride hieght i would have thought- the lower the better?

Not necessarily.

Lloydie, what are the handling problems it's giving you? Or do you just think it's rolling too much but no adverse symptons otherwise?

The car is poly bushed all round so it is tight, new bilies all round.

I just feel on the track the fast sweeping bends in particular (around 80mph and 100mph) the back end seems 'twitchie' so I feel it's the rear ride height. A pal of mine was following me and said he thought it looked a bit high, I'm keeping it 'smooth' and not unsettling the car so I'm going to try the ride height for the sake of the cost of some springs...Agent006 - any thoughts welcome..... :)

From those photos yours actually looks lower on the loaded side than that racecar. I'd look at other things before just lowering it more. There are some excellent flowcharts on handling problems on the net somewhere, i'll have a dig around and see if i can link to them.
