Hey Guys fantastic site,
I am almost finished building my E30 which has a Toyota 1JZGTE 2.5 litre twin turbo set up.
The car has been set up for everyday use and i am trying to keep it as standard looking as possible.
I have sprayed my 600x300x70 front mount intercooler in black and done the same to the 3" turbo's back exhaust.
For the meantime i am using the 4 speed auto from the Soarer TT due to conversion costs for the manual being excessive.
The biggest problem i came across in Australia was finding a damn LSD with 3.73 ratios.
I ended up paying $1100 for a reco'd one with new gears.
On the dyno i got 223rwkw on 14psi boost but am changing the injectors to 440cc ones as that was the max i could get from the original 380cc.
I have ordered 2 x Garrett T28 'disco patatoe' turbos, HKS adjustable cam gears and a Bosch 044 fuel pump whch shall arrive in 3 weeks.
I am hoping for about 350rwkw which souldnt be a problem once my ball bearing babies arrive.
I have come across 3 hurdles which i need to solve.
1) From the pictures, how can i cover the FMIC without having to go full bodykit as i want this remaning a sleeper.
2) If i was to go bodykit i wont put nothing but an E30 M3 kit... where the hell can i find one?
3)What are the deepest dish wheels known to you guys in 17" as i dont want rubbing and i need them to be atleast 8" wide as these 7.5" just fry the hell out when i give it.
Anyhelp, feedback or criticism will be appreciated.
P.S It wont let me upload my photos how can i do it?

Thanks Guys,
I seriously have NEVER seen or heard of such a tight community/forum for car enthusiast for any car or model and beleive me im on the net 24/7 as im a computer techie.
My friend is building a E30 and putting an LS1 5.7lt V8 and wanted to ask is there anything from BMW that he can fit for the break upgrade or should he just go after market?
His car is a 88 model 325i.
Thanks for your help guys i'll have plenty of pics up really soon but am starting to contemplate wether i should cancel the 2 T28's and just go Garret GT3540R single as i have heard the twins will give me more lag
?
Today i received the custom fuel rail and 6 x 800cc fuel injectors.
I am pretty scared about the E30 LSD with 3.73 gears as im not sure it will be sufficient once i up the boost with the new turbo/turbo's.
Does anybody know how much a refurbished E30 LSD can take power wise?
Also if there is any interchangable stron CV's and Axles that fit onto the E30?
Thanks guys.

Tell your friend to go aftermarket.
www.300mm.de for example.
My friend with a GT-R R33 Skyline has the twin turbos T28´s and there is no lag at all,
Depending on the power level you´ll not find problems unless your pushing serious amount of torque,

i would be more worried about the diff mounting not being strong enough, would definatly reccomend strengthening the mounting.
there were some pictures somewhere of where the diff ripped the mounting off.
sounds good anyway, try to get some pictures up.

i think the std halfshafts joints normaly go before the diff, the most powerful e30 with normal diff i know was 600hp but it was welded (but that would still kill ring and pinion if it was to much) the most powerful non welded i know of was ticoo with around 400hp, only s50/s38 turbos seem to need the bigger M5 diffs.

***Update***
The car is now on the road well was on the road but my worries have come become reality...
I have snapped my 3rd driveshaft in 2 days and am furious because nobody in Sydney is willing to make me custom driveshafts.
The car also seemed a little wobbly but that has been solved with a new set of Bilstein heavy duty shocks front and back, and am awaiting my strut bars front and rear to arrive.
Can anyone help me with the driveshaft issue?
Its the left one that keeps breaking.
Could it be my LSD?
Im not doing snap take offs just rolling sprints etc havent had a chance to thrash it.
thanks guys.

Hmm, that is odd. How much torque are you making?
There are people in the US putting serious twist through their axles without too many problems I gather.

I think most of the turbo E30s are running standard axles, even some of the S38/S50 turbos.Turbo-Brown wrote:There are people in the US putting serious twist through their axles without too many problems I gather.

Dont have pics yet he is a mechanic and takes his time. He has bought the engine with all the electronics and 6 speed manual for $6000 aussie dollars.Have you got any more info/links/pictures of this please ?
I have pics of my car and the damn front bar im cutting and trying to fit around my intercooler with engine pics etc etc but am too friggin lazy to get them up.
I guess if it was running fine id have a million pics up but due to the stuff ups im cursing.
I just want to take off and hammer the crap out of it.
I am still having problems with finding wide rims to fit atleast 235's on the rear.
I dont want to go over 17" and will really prefer 16" wheels as to keep it looking standard.
Any suggestions guys?
Thanks for your help...

Go and see ALS Performance or BavariaCars, they might be able to help you out with the driveshaft problem.

were they brand new or used replacements?, people normaly bust the old ones then fit new and are ok, people are doing decent 1/4 mile times with 350 hp without breaking them.

Hey Guys thanks for the replies...
I installed a set of clean driveshatfs and was doing fine until i hammered my tail-shaft centre bearing.
Then i was that pist off that i started doing figure 8's in it until i snapped another CV.
Im farking burning yet im not gonna let this bitch get to me.
Im 2 days away from receiving my twin Trust TD05H-16G turbos with trust maifolds and twin HKS external gates.
I am 2 weeks away from replacing my auto shit box with the Lexus IS200 manual 6speed.
My GReddy E-management is awaiting installation and my Sard 800cc sidefed injectors are onway from Japan.
I have come to the conclusion that custom CV's are my only option but am now told that the tail-shaft centre bearings are also quick to go?
Anyways guys look out for some vids on youtube within the next couple of days under E30_1JZ for some nice fun videos, couldnt help but video my illegal activity.

What part of Oz are you in? I have had lots of trouble finding an LSD as well. and for 3.73 LSD $1100 sounds ok.. where did you get it from?
Thanks!
Ben

Thanks for the info and the bar advise mrgtsx... How long did they take to get yours?
I had to do it this way because i was forced for space and ended up putting the radiator inbetween the radiator support which was were i planned on putting my intercooler.
In regards to the diff, did you keep the E30 hosuing or did you change the whole thing?
If no what exactly did you change and what about the spider gears and ratio, id love to know.
I am in Sydney DrBen bought my diff from ASV and they are absolute f@ckwits who i will never deal with again as i was originally told 3 days and it went on for 4 months.
DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM.
I just installed some gauges which i was trying to hide from view of passing cars and police, here are some pics...
This is a pic of them on...

I have also sold my twin GReddy turbo set up as space was not an option and they did not fit.
I have now got a custom exhaust manifold and purchased a T70 turbo which i am waiting on a Tial 38mm wastegate to install.
Will have more pics up soon and yes i need to clean the car as you can probably see it has not been cleaned since the conversion and my grease marks are all over the engine.
Will keep you guys posted.
