Its alot of work, to do it properly the whole wiring loom needs to be changed in the car.

If you find one let me know :thumb:
You need all the hub's with sensors and the brackets to hold the pump (below expansion tank), master brake cylinder,loom,brain,brake line around engine bay.
Fairly staight forward to put in if you have the right hubs but then i've heard bleeding the system is a bit more complicated than normal.

The loom is seperate, it's got one terminal to the battery and 3/4 to the plug below glovebox and one to a bulb on the instrument cluster.
The wiring's the easy bit :mad:

Actually its not, the positive cable that runs to the battery cannot be disconnected without cutting, the 3/4 your talking about is routed through the fuse box and into the car via the rubber conduit and then runs with the loom to the back of the car for the sensors, most of the wiring is taped up with the rest of the cars electrical systems, so i would say that to do it properly you would need to change the main loom.

As you say the rear sensor wire is taped to the rest of the loom, but we're talking about putting it in not taking it out :wink:
As for the battery terminal thats nothing a new crimp won't sort out and the 3 or 4 to that go through the bulkhead are pushed thruogh with the main plug that goes to the controll unit above the glovebox :thumb:
Like i said thats the easy bit your real problem is if you don't have the abs hubs :cry:

Mate, the main plug which mates to the ABS ECU is far too large to fit through any holes in the bulkhead. If you were to attempt it without changing the cars loom, i would recommend you dismantle the ABS pump plug and push the wires through one by one.

Everything is in place, in terms of struts/trailing arms/sensors, i need to get the ABS pump brackets welded in place, then change the loom round and i hope to have ABS.

So no ive not done it myself.

The rubber seal all the wires run through will give you greif but it can be done.
Do you know if the brake servo has to be changed or can you just change the master cylinder?

Just the master cylinder needs changing, the servo is the same for all the models.

Im sure that the master cylinder is the same, just that one of the outputs for the front is blocked off, the one on the underside. But thats not 100% so i would just change it anyway.

I'll have to dig it out and have a look but i think the reservoir is different as well.
Likewise i just need the welding done.

I`m reshelling my 325i into my other 325i which is low spec only options it had was lsd and abs, no electric pack, so i`m swapping loom from the rusty 325i which was fully loaded that doesn`t have abs though, so i`ve split the abs loom from the main loom, nothing to it really.

its a lot of work to do from scratch to fit hubs etc, but wiring is not a problem.
