I forgot to mention i run a 325i skimmed head engine, normal K&N air filter and scorpion back box.
from what i remember an integra type R are around 200BHP, and i kno i definatly am not hitting no where near that, but this morning keeping up with it felt damn good.
i was wheel spinning at gear change from 1st to 2nd, i was shocked my car could even do that.

Its not about hp figures, its about the whole setup. With 270bhp in a car that weighs the same as the teg, we could only just leave it on the track. It would have been a different story I am sure if the track was more twisty, as everyone has said, they are serious weapons.

yeh i knew they were a quicker car but i just wanted to see how far off it was from our E30. And i was quite shocked he couldnt pull away, probably on a longer road he might have.
i reckon some of the E30s on here would eat that Teg up for lunch, mines just standard with a skimmed head.

they are faster than a 2.5 but if you got youre foot down first it would take em a while to get in front of you.
if you can get the power down first youre gonna be able to do pretty well against slightly faster cars.

Whats the 0-60 time on both cars as standard without mods?
Returned after many years out.
2001 integra= 187hp@7900 rpm
torque= 131lbft
weight=1200kg
0-60= 6.9 secs (due to gearing i would have thought. 60 in second gear easy)
the diffence in power/weight in quite minimal especially when you take into consideration that the 325 has 30lbft+ more.

The thing about the integra it takes a second before the Vtec kicks in whereas the straight 6 power runs straight through no lag, no waiting for anything to kick in just BM power, which i love

And thats where the driver bit comes in, knowing how your engine delivers its power.spence_star wrote:The thing about the integra it takes a second before the Vtec kicks in whereas the straight 6 power runs straight through no lag, no waiting for anything to kick in just BM power, which i love

teg has less engine torque, but has a useable rev range thats almost a couple of thousand rpm more meaning it can hold the lower gears longer which makes up for the lack of torque (lower gears multiply torque at the wheels)oakey wrote: the diffence in power/weight in quite minimal especially when you take into consideration that the 325 has 30lbft+ more.
plus the 0-anything time is going to be seriously hampered by being fwd, a properly hooked up rwd car is always going to get a better initial launch.
i'm not saying theyre the greatest cars ever, but they are seriously well sorted and punch well above their weight.
vtec doesnt 'take a second to kick in' if youre above the changeover point it's in vtec, if you're not then you're in the wrong gear which is the fault of the driver not the car.

basically i was rolling with it at around 40mph, then he decided to put his foot down, by this time i had a feeling he was going to do this so i left it in 3rd and stayed with him while he put his foot down, i knew he would eat me up in the long run, but hey it was fun, and good to see what a 325 can do against a type R, which are top of their range models.

ive never raced the integra r but i have raced my mates 2003 civic type r ,and thats 197 bhp and nearly 1500kg.as said above its all about catching the revs in the right gear and if they miss it theyve lost. i cant shake of the civic r around the bends but my straight line power wins it every time.but then i do have nearly 100bhp more

when i raced a civic type r i left the lights first as he had excessive wheelspin and even tho it was wet i still managed to get a good launch, he caught up with me when shifting into 3rd but never got passed me

e30s are very easy to launch compared with most FWD, but a well sorted FWD (and the integra-R is definitely one of those) gives a great sense of security round corners where e30 drivers will be have their fingertips twitching waiting for the first signs of the back stepping out...
I reckon the e30 is a more involving drive but doesn't do the "bung it in as hard as you dare and let the grip get you round" in the same way as some modern FWD. So unless your a god, or on a really safe road you'll probably lose some ground.
I guess this changes once you start uprating e30 roll bars, tyres, shocks...but mine is stock atm.

Bark and no bite. The lack of torque plays it's part
My mate has a '98 Teg Type R and the sense of speed you get when its in the Vtec is awesome, i would of though it would beat a 325i once its in the Vtec, but the have nothing low down, his 106 GTi was just as quick 0-60. Around the corners the grip is scary, had me touching cloth a few times but shows no sign of losing the front end, probably something to do with the LSD!?
despite being everything i despise (fwd, honda, lacking in torque) they are awesome drivers cars, one of if not the best fwd car ever made. you'd have to spend a lot of money on an e30 to get it anywhere near as 'involving' to drive.
n.b. 'involving' doesnt mean power oversteer in every corner
and yes, they have a proper lsd, and are knowwn for suffering virtually no understeer at all. in terms of lap times i think one would show an e30 m3 a clean pair of heals around a track.

Isn't the teg supposed to be the best handling FWD? Or at least that was a few years ago.. Driver skill is everything in this case I guess, but then they're fair game
An E30 M3 was toasted around Ty Croes by some little production mitsubishi hot hatch on 5th gear? I was gutted to see that!
The only car my ever-faithful 325i was punished by was an E30 M3 evo - could NOT shake the bugger..
but spannering around your favourite roads in an e30, scaring the bejesus out of your passenger when the back end goes a shade light on the wet patches is far more appealing than spenging loads of $$$'s on some jap crap
Had a straight liner with a colleague in his accord type R & we both bottled at 146mph - not sure who was more shocked
