there have been a whole bunch of threads on this. Seriously, do a quick search and they will come up.

Anything other than GB is illegal. Exact requirements are on the DVLA site.

couple of sites around, try dubmeister or germanplates.com, can find both through Google or the other threads when you find them!

From what i understood the are technically legal because they meet EU standards!?

I'm sure someone posted a link to the information stating this in one of the other threads.

Thats the one mate,

This is the summary at the end,
Quote from email received direct today from DVLA Swansea.

"I can confirm that your assumption is mostly correct and European number plates may be used legally on vehicles manufactured between these dates (1973 and 2001). Schedule 2 Part 1 also extends the 'European' facility to number plates fitted on vehicles manufactured after September 2001. However, the equivalence test would be carried out against the latest issued British Standard"

Our plates are German DIN standard marked...so should be UK legal in themselves...We have more work to do, but will be doing this with some urgency.
Put my plates on yesterday which have the D symbol and had a couple of police cars behind me a different times today and they didn't bother! 8)
