yes 323is are quite rare and it is very hard to find one without the rust bug.

p.s. you might wantto rephrase the title to 'how rare is my car?' insteadof 'mine car' lol

NICE EARLY MOTOR AND TOP OF THE RANGE AT THE TIME value is dependent on condition as with any e30 but a good one should make way more than £500

Most 323is have gone to the great scrap yard in the sky so a good rust free one is very rare but would probably only of interest to a collector of some sort. They are not slow but BMW brought them out to try and match the original Golf GTi in the market but it didn't really cut it with its slower revving 6 pot and unsophisticated engine management system. Having said that, I ran one for 17 years from new in 1985 and covered 265,000 miles. I only got rid of it because of rust - it rotted everywhere but you couldn't see it on the outside. Here's a picture taken about 2 weeks before it went to the scrap yard. I did however strip everything out and a lot of it lives on in my current Sport.

Hi, From memory the inner wheel arches were very bad, but it started with an MoT fail on rot around front jacking points. The metal there was so soft it was like rubber. I took it into a bodyshop to have it looked at. They started to cut away the outer sills then moved on to the inner sills but when I went to check on progress they had cut away almost up to the transmission tunnel! That's when I told them to stop. The outer bodywork was perfect - even wheel arches and doors. I hate it when MoT guys go round prodding underneath with a screwdriver but in this case they were right!

Yeh, it was a dose of reality I could have done without. Having said tha, it did mean my upgrade to the Sport which I've now had for a good five years and I'm a very happy bunny. Good luck tomorrow. I hope you don't find anything untoward with your prodding and that you have a car to cherish.

Worth about £495 to someone. Pending that its mint, and the owner is really into his 323i"s.

Yep same happened to mine, she was an 85 323i S. Took it for an MOT and the rest is history, she looked great on the outside too. I always wanted another and bought one a few months back only to return it as it had gone the same way.
