I haven't got a photo but when I used mine last I removed the flywheel and bolted it to four opposing gearbox mounting holes using some burly (correct thread) bolts.
It didn't feel very safe though, four bolts suspending all that weight
The way Charlie says is the proper way but it will give you problems if your engine is timed up by locking the flywheel, like the M50 I have on my stand at the mo
I have seen engines bolted to the stand sideways, I didnt fancy it with mine as most the threaded holes are only 8 mm
I've got a set of very long bolts + three nuts for each (one each side of the engine stand tube, and one against the engine), which allow the engine to be bolted on with flywheel in place.
More stable if it's bolted right up to the stand without the flywheel.
