Took my car R/R today, and was laughing when he told me my car made 100bhp !!!! He said its got no boost at all.. The thing is, now that i think about it, i dont know how long its been like this as i try not use boost all the time...and didnt on the way up there... This has happened once before when the car just wouldnt move when you put your foot down, and as soon as i opened the bonnett i saw a charge pipe that had come loose... but this time ive looked everywhere and no pipes have come loose.... what has caused this then???????

Wastegate stuck open, fooked turbo, cracked IC (although I think you'd hear the boost escaping then)
Those are some pessimistic possibles, sure you'll find it's something easy to fix

Sticky dump valve?
Is the turbo spinning, oil feed failure?

Fingees crossed for a happy ending
Guess the increased backpressure caused by a jammed turbine would account for the loss of about 70bhp too!

Bad news, its FUBAR.
appears that the thrust bearing has failed, the turbine backpressure is forcing the comp into its housing hence the jamming issue.
Nowt for it , rebuild time
should add, the turbo was not new when Erel purchased it, so as always s/hand is a lottery it seems.

Just got in after a trip to Ant's... and last minute valentines shopping as im working tommorrow night.
... Anyway. as above, turbo is knackered and no boost at all
... but hey, at least the car is still driveable as Ant took the actuator arm off so wastegate is wide open.. As you said Graham, poor me, problem after problem... but hey, im a fighter and wont give up easily !!! (bloody hurts though)! Anyway, i made a few calls and its gonna cost in the region of £400 to have it completely recon.... money i havent got till the end of the month ! so whats my options guys??? do i recon my turbo or look for upgrade?
any help or advice is much appreciated.. God bless the zone.........

H1C is spot on, but Erel has a flipped std mani and adapter, WH2D might be a better choice, T3 still but internal W/gate.

Keep hold of that numner Malc, no use for Erel though dude.
Maybe I should make him a new manifold, and go full bore

as soon as i find a manifold for the right price i will upgrade mate, it only makes sense to do so at this time, kill 2 birds with 1 stone..! i mean my manifold is upto the job in hand isnt it? the only thing i will gain is space which i do need... As the car is still driveable, i wont be making any hasty decision regarding the turbo but sooner rather than later as this boost game is highly addictive.gcorky wrote:Ant wrote:H1C is spot on, but Erel has a flipped std mani and adapter, WH2D might be a better choice, T3 still but internal W/gate.
true -so i presume the flip and adapter are staying and not an opportunity for upgrade....again

Erel i think you want a piece of this action!
http://www.pure-pf.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8358
On another note, i have some old TBMW mags with a green e30 PPF stripped, caged and running slicks with a side exhaust and somewhere in it, they reckon you can build a 500bhp e30 for £3K sterling! Is this true? Or if it is, does it require you to do all the work youselves?
