Hi, after getting some kind offers from zone members I just got a used manifold from reputable used parts dealer (90 day warranty) -but I'm suspicious it looks different than this: http://www.esatclear.ie/~bpurcell/exheader.jpg
Am suspicious it is an e36 one - Can anyone tell me the difference so I can relax?

Thanks
Kevin :squint:

Some E36's do use the M42 engine in the iS so that manifold may well be the same as an E30 one.

But confirm - just a thought.

Correct me if I'm wrong too... but I was under the impression that M42 (318iS) exhaust manifolds were stainless. Am I wrong in thinking that? Are they just tubular steel...?

Mine didn't have any form of corrosion on it at all...

It's just that the one picured is going rusty near the downpipe flange.

this is an e30 manifold. the one further up could be an e30 lhd one or an e36 one, they look pretty much the same. they're not stainless, but that one does look to be in a bit of a state corrosion-wise.

Thanks guys I'll give it a try, found a pic of an e36 one and the down pipe fitting looks even more different on that one, so I assume the pics I've seen have just been lhd manifolds. Just thought I'd check before carting it down to the garage.
