I took off the rocker cover on my 325i today and found it full of brown muck that has built up, how do i need it off and what stuff do i use. The car has not been used for a long time and has not had a service for a while, so what else could do with a clean.

Also, when i put a screwdriver in the brather hose that goes into the rocker cover, i noticed its full of brown gunk, the oil is black and the water is clean so what is it and how do i clean that.

cheers!

Use some red diesel (30p/litre) and a paint brush for the rocker cover and valve gear, pour plenty over it as this will flush some sludge from the oilways into the sump..
Remove the breather pipes and do the same..

Change oil, filter and run a 100 miles or so then change again with quality oil..
