Hi guys, I just want to add a bit of bass... not trying to create one of thsoe "thump - thump - thump" cars you get driving past.
So I want the sub/enclosure to be as small as possible, firing through the ski hatch.
Anyone suggest a sub/enclosure/amp combination that would suit?
Thanks
Wojah

Try the blaupunkt ones... litte self contained enclosures... could fit under your seat... very nice.

a jl audio 10w3v2. very sweet sound indeed in a small enclosure. for 'as small as possible' you'll probably have to go with an 8 inch sub - but a 10 or a 12 won't be regretted.

I have a single 10w3v2 in my e30. It resides in a 1.5cu. ft. ported box. Port fires up through the rear deck.placey wrote:a jl audio 10w3v2. very sweet sound indeed in a small enclosure. for 'as small as possible' you'll probably have to go with an 8 inch sub - but a 10 or a 12 won't be regretted.

The box is air tight sealed into the skihole. Absolutely no output is vented into the trunk. Bass being wasted in the trunk is what causes the ever annoying "bom boom booom" down the street.
With my system as loud as it goes there is zero audible bass outside the car, although the mids and highs sparkle like crazy.
I still have a very large functional trunk, and easy access to my full size 17in matching spare
I don't want to picture whore out this thread, but click the modifications link in my sig, and scroll down to ICE. Click on the hyperlinks and you can see what I'm talking about.

I've got an 8" Caliber sub in a li'l box, that I had behind the drivers seat in my spitfire! Went for one that would run in as small an enclosure as I could find. Still got decent sound from it though
I expect you'd wanna build a custom box, but the speaker may be of use?

Focal do some nice 5.1/4 subs to fit into the excisting holes, this is what im planning on ussing with a small one channel amp. Your looking at around Ԛ£140 just for the driver.

I've got Focal speakers in the front and they're amazing. Also got Infinity's in the rear with a 12" Sony Explode enclosed sub... Not a bad sound in my little E30...

It's how to build one into the boot that's the problem - if it's too much bother, I can't be arsed...

hogweed - it took me just over 40 hours to build a box for my subs and build it into the boot to be under the rear shelf firing into the cabin. that doesn't include cutting the shelf then re-inforcing it - that was already done from my previous install and probably took me around 16 hours work.
also that was around my 40th install so it's not like i didn't know what i was doing/faced with. to be fair however i am a perfectionist and everything has to be perfect - visible or not.
hope this gives an idea.
tell you what though - the results are fabulous and i don't regret a minute of the work or a penny of the money spent. it beats any floating sub box hands down any day of the week.
