So an e34 535i has 0-60= 7.9secs and is it 220 or 240 bhp
Anyone know how fast a 335i will be 0-60?

It would depend what diff, tyres, road surface etc.

I think with most conversions people use a higher ratio diff than E34s.

I've never had mine timed but I would guess somewhere around 6 - 61/2 seconds ?

mine has not been on a rolling road but i have taken it up santa pod. it only did mid 15's as i was driving like a tit, have too low ratio diff fitted and the rear bushes were so trashed it was tramping in first and second. it's also a heavy old tourer (150kg ish up on a saloon afaik)

i suspect a fair figure would be mid to high 14's up a strip on a standard engine.

0-60... i suspect about 6 seconds but not timed yet. it's too much fun to be faffing about with a stop watch!

oh, it's 211bhp in a E34 but that is with cats which get binned! a healthy engine with no cats and a decent exhaust (not a smaller bore butchered 325i one) is probably about 220bhp.

mine did a reliable 6 secs to 60 on the G-tech meter, i'd say that's realistic.

on my 325, I did 5 prop dougnuts in as many months, 3 GSF, 2 stealer, the torque seemed to just chew em up- sorted it in the end, tuned the boost down :lol:

nah that was the 3.91 LSD setup, worn rears and a less then grippy road :D

m30 guibo is larger than m20 i think, thank god :?

A standard 335i should do the quarter in about 14,5-15 depending on driver and tires,
Also about 6-6.5 0-60mph,

with slicks it will go into high 13´s easy

Is 'easy' not a bit optimistic? I know you can get an efficient launch from so much more grip but to enter the 13 bracket just from slicks? Bear in mind that this is E36 M3 Evo (321bhp) territory. I know that it will be slightly heavier (although not all that much- the 535 lump is heavier than the 3.2) than the E30 but it does have that high revving M engine and a solid 100bhp advantage from factory...

The 335i build description page on e30.de reckons that a 335i with a 3.64 diff should hit 100kmph (62mph ish) in around 6.5 seconds (and would have a top speed of 146mph). Nice!

The E36 M3 does it without slicks, I did it without slicks in a S50 E30 (274hp dynoed, actuall 13,2sec at 106mph)
The S50 is heavier then a M30 engine, and the E36 M3 weighs about 1500-1600kg´s
So actually there is about the same torque , 50hp less, less weight and slicks will give you that much advantage, launching at very high revs means that you can pull out alot lot better then slightly spinning the wheels or slipping the clutch when using normal tires,

I can see what you're saying about ideal and productive launches but am curious about something.

Firstly, I feel thats its not just a point of comparing power figures. The way power is delivered is crucial also. Correct me if i'm arong but the M30 is a relatively low tech engine (i dont know too much about it). The weight of an M30 engine is 143kg (as opposed to the Evo's 152kg) so not all that much weight difference. Also I would have thought that an E30 with an E36 328i engine (with double Vanos technology) or maybe even an E46 330i (would loom be a mission?) would have perhaps been a better combination of weight (193bhp-118kg or 231bhp-126kg) whilst achieving almost the same torque and slightly less bhp, and performance (maybe even faster than the M30 spec E30, who has an M52 E30?! winkeye) . Don't forget that in a chassis like the E30, im sure having an M30 heavier front end would have significant impact on the handling.

Secondly, i've had an Evo and can confirm that rather than 15-1600, it used to point to just over 1400kg on the scales. How much do you estimate the M30 E30 to way in at? I'm considering a nice complete project and want to choose an ideal combination of engine and drivetrain (gearing is crucial) without sacrificing too much in the way of agility...

I weighed a 335i at 1190kg´s

it´s not all about the max power as you mentioned but average power delivery, and the M30 has lots of average power, in the higher rpms it feels a little lacking but the lower end of the gear really gives it it´s go,

I used a M10 trans, lightened M10 flywheel, 320i driveshaft,
the car is not really front heavy but I gteched 14,9sec quarter with a very slow 1-2nd shift and horrible tires,
really bad ones I might add.

So I´m sure that with good tires a good launch and shifting mid 14´s is easy along with 13´s with slicks,
325i´s locally have gotten low 15´s

I'm running my M30 with a Schrick camshaft, some head porting and a zone chip.

It is torquey alright, but it is also happy and delivering the goods past 6000 rpm, it's limited now to about 6800 but there isn't any point revving it that hard.

It can be a very cheap transplant for the gains given though!

Did this car have a full interior etc?

Wondered what they would weigh in at...

At 1190kg and 220bhp a very low 14 should be possible I would say.

My Honda Civic ran a 12.9 last yr with around 220bhp, but only 840kg :wink:

I belive it was 970kg 325i with a 4,27 diff and some minor mods, I belive it´s performance figures where rather good,
