Hi guys,

What size are the speakers in the rear of a cab?
H reg 1990 if this helps.

What size are they standard and what size can the pods take without any drilling and re sizing etc?

5.25 is the standard size...

Be a good idea to go with something like cliffy has, so that the cover can't touch anything that moves. But don't spend too much - rear speakers are a waste of money really!

Pioneer are great especially for the money. 5.25 it is, i dont want to have the grills showing in mine especially with the crime rate in my area, theives will get too excited.

i might go for a set of pioneers, nice one Mr Chrome.

I wasn't suggesting you have the grills on show; my point was that those 3 black plastic bits on cliffy's speakers would protect the cone from the cover - there's not a lot of mounting depth & they may well touch.

ermm are you sure they are any good, im looking for speakers for my cab at the moment, and the prices for 5.25" speakers go up to like £200, and those pioneers are like £30, seems too cheap for some decent sound, i would have thought up in the 60s-70s woulg get something more quality..

Money doesn't always buy quality!!!

Depends how you like your sounds and what you call good quality!!
Don't forget that rears are just there for a bit of fill - your not gonna have them pointing straight at your ears so they don't have to be stunning really!

In my old 320 I had a pair of £60 6x9's (pioneers actually i think) that i changed out for some £250 JL 6x9's. Ended up putting the pioneers back in 'cos the JL's were way too harsh sounding for my liking!!
Also, more expensive speakers generally need better conditions to sound any better than cheapies - sound proofing, more solid mounting/baffle, properly enclosed, etc!!

The quality you get from a speaker will depend on the quality of the source and amps too!! Generally no point spending £200 on speakers to put on a £75 head unit!!

At the end of the day, everyone's ears are different and everyone likes different sounds, so try and have a listen before you buy!!!
Not so bad on £30 speakers, but a must when going upwards in price!!
327 Touring with bass!!!
