am i able to use my exsisting exhaust manifold for a turbo conv, its an m20 by the way......also can i use a turbo of an cossie??

Agree but from what I know yes and yes, although you will need to modify your exhaust manifold to direct gases to the turbo rather than staight out so is probaby not the best or easiest solution.

as for the cossie turbo, depends if it has the characteristics your looking for in a turbo, but there is no reason why not, think these are usually garrett T3's but someone like spadge is the cossie expert.

Ant knows all about BMW FI though.

depends on your goals...but for a low boost budget setup,you can use both but its quite far from ideal..

any other info on setup....have you thought it through at all?theres a lot more than just bolting on a few bits.

i think you may refer to flipping /modding the m20 manifold...and then create a t3 adapter?possible but bit of grinding/porting flange work

just at the idea's stage at the moment, dont want big power just useable power for now, i no theres alot more to it than just a few bits and peices so want some different veiws from u lot

so basically ill need to get the manifold ported to suit the turbo?? wots the best comp ratio to aim for??

no ,no turn the exhaust manifold upside down-then make it fit that way...then fabricate an adapter from the flange to mount your turbo-may have pictures still ,ill look for you.

no m8 but basically if you can cut the flange off the original exhaust and make/buy a t3 turbo flange weld a collector between the 2...at the right angle...done,

Hello mate, just picked up on this thread.... ive got the standard m20 manifold thats been flipped and re-ported with the t3 adaptor (pics above).. currently running a t3 garret from a cossie.... this set up has been very effective for me and im well happy... ive got loadsa pics of my turbo build process if you want to take a look...

Hello matey, yep, thanx for asking... just bolted on slightly bigger turbo and waiting till thursday to get it re-mapped, on 10.5psi and its mad.... but pinking on boost.. :x .. hows yours coming along?

still offroad,debating now on pulling engine out and a freshen up...

got some nice bits!!but ive got a couple of other cars in bits ,mines last on list...hopefully by summer-ISH ill be terrorising the n.e roads...wwoooooaaahhhhhhh..

off boost.... im doing 140miles for £20 i think thats great, was doing 100 miles for same amount with no turbo and no m/s.. ???
