hi guys,
last night after finishing work i turned my fog lights on due to mist and fog from the estuary i work by. i forgot to turn them off when the mist past and when i was just pulling into my drive the pigs pulled me over a issued me a fixed £30 penalty notice for having them on. the copper wasnt having any excuses. any ideas if i refuse to pay and go to court, on how to get away with this fine.
probably just gonna pay up as i havent the time to p*ss around.
cheers jamie

well technically, if he hasnt got evidence of you with the lights on, and he issued the ticket whilst you were on your drive, he cant do anything...

although if he had a colleague in the car then its your word against 2 coppers, waste of time challenging it really as it might result in you having to take time of work to go and contest it ,costing you more in lost wages

well he probably had another officer on patrol with him. Therefore he can be backed up.....

Any penalty points???
What technical offence was the notice issued for??? Easist way out of any offence is check the paperwork first: most errors get you out of it.
I have a colleague who was caught with a 'brazilian' tyre for which the points would have put him and his e36 M3 (I have my suspicions it may actually be a 328, not been under the bonnet yet) off the road. Because the officer failed to issue a notice requiring him to surrender his licence (the correct procedure in the circumstance), he challenged the notice and now the matter has to go to court. There is a six month wait for a hearing round here, and the matter has not been listed yet, so earliest the matter gets resolved is July, by which time six of his nine points will have expired on his licence.

i tries to contest a misprint on a ticket he'd wrote down that i was doing 47 in a 50 instead of 47 in a 40.my appeal failed though as the offence code was correct.the risk you take going down that route is that if you fail the court can increase the penalty(more points or higher fine) its crap but sometimes your as well just paying it grudgingly then forgetting it

its a fixed penalty notice (non endorsable offence) so no points on my license. so thats pretty lucky.
he had another officer in the car so its there word against mine. so i am just going to pay up.
i have just looked at the bookings for the restaurant i work at, and the local police station is in next weekend and he is from that station. looks like i am going have to get him back in some other way
cheers jamie

agreed to the copper i will,
DONT TURN THEM ON !
its really gets to me how people can be so dumb to put them on when the know that other cars blind them when they have them on , so why put them on if you know ur going to blind other drivers.
and fog lights might only the slighteset difference in the fog so why bother

After driving all day, nothing like nothing pisses me off more than fog lights. it has been a long day and they do dazzel anyway and they are not much good in the fog.
When I see them coming towards me I put my full beam on.
I drive 80 to 100K miles ayear, it matters

Sorry but any error on a ticket invalidates it.
I was pulled over when i picked up a car in glasgow. Chaved up 318i
Stopped for;
No brake lights, 3 bald tires & no insurance.
Errors on the tickets were;
Incorrect fine amount for bald tires - invalid
Producer document had wrong street - invalid
PHEWWWWWWWW!

Most of this is appears to be down to servicing ! Everytime my work car goes in for a service it comes back with light adjusted "fully up" and I reset about midway. I bet most people don't even know they can be adjusted !

Fine seems very harsh, since they're not dazzling(sp) at all..
I always the fogs on when using dipped beam....Purely cos it looks good.
Previous comments about some modern cars being blinding...This is very dangerous and gives me the right bollock ache. Even when it's not too dark they can still cause distraction....
At least the E30 full beam is totally awesome and pwns them when drive towards you

It's not just modern cars. E30's with bloody foglights on dazzle too!
They're foglights. If it isn't foggy, turn the bloody things off! It's not cool, it's chav!
This is why I no longer drive an E30......

They do dazzle, hence why other people flash you
Nothing worse than a wet road and some muppet coming towards you with there fog lights on... Expect a £30 fine some time soon

Sorry, But you deserve every penny of that fine.
Foglights are possibly the most frustrating thing on the road, Absolutely no reason to use them, If you are struggling to see, fit better bulbs!
Don't penalise the rest of the road users because you want to "look good"!
