I'm hoping your gonna be a lucky git on this one and it will be enough to pay for the Alpina engine rebuild.

£500! well chuffed but as always its never straight forward for me. They have just sent a cheque, but not told anyone if the car is a write off or if it's towards repairing it. So my insurance are finding out this week whats going on!

Meanwhile if i want to try for a little more then i need some adverts of similar NICE :? 4 doors selling for good money? 8O This is the really tough part though :?

I thought this was standard practice for insurance companies. They send a cheque as their initial offer/valuation on the understanding that if it's cashed then you accept their valuation. Most of the time this works because people are that fcuked off with waiting for it they cash it in desparation. :x

And receiving a cheque is more 'positive' than an offer amount. Ask Reader's Digest.

most cheques have "in full and final settlement" on the large stub part, so only bank it once it has been clarified with the third party insurers that it is only accepted as an interim payment and you do not agree with their valuation.

So, £500 and you keep the car?

I think there's a business model in the making there.
