help needed Ive noticed over the last few days that my temp gauge seems to "bounce" a bit, but today from cold temp gauge went into the "red" whithin about 5mins .Ive checked the oil and water and both levels are good, Im hoping ive got a duff gauge or something, but dont want to rely on that theory. any suggestions on what it could be, causing it to get "hot so quick "or what i could test to be sure. My car is a 325mk 2 sport cheers

Make sure you don't have an air lock in the cooling system. Also check the thermostat is operational.

easy check for a stuck stat.
run car til temp is indicated as warm.
turn off, feel hoses for heat, should all be warm
check radiator is at similar temp, if none of the above is 100% then stick a new in in, few quid and worth it for peace of mind
maybe a duff sender too dude, change the brown one @ the fornt of the engine, Ԛ£8 ish dealer only though OK
if none of the above seems to cure the fault......... pull the cluster out and check the earth nuts on the back inside are tight.
