we've got a set of Yoko A006T's .... absolutely the nuts grip wise and last well too. Pricey though at £140 each... unless you get lucky like we did and get a nearly new set of ebay for £140 for 4
Not tried r888'sbut also heard good things and they are road legal too - A006 most definitely are not.

White 318iS, 2.7 conversion, LSD, H&R cup kit, ARBs, F&R strut braces, full cage, kevlar buckets, wilwood 4 pot brakes, braided hoses, 6pt harnesses, f/glass bonnet, Toyo 888's, scorpion, polybushed, carbon cards and boot lid.
Do they have to be road legal?
If not, try race teams for 2nd hand ones. I used to run part worn slicks on a track day Capri. Got them from a local formula 3 team for next to nothing. They'd only done a couple of test sessions, hardly any wear at all. Awesome grip! Not sure about the 17" size though.
Anyway, just a thought.

Hi,
Are you talking 'Cut Slicks ' or ' R compound' here ?
Very big difference in price and ability.
R888 are R compound not cut slicks, not sure what
difference if any, Cut slicks or R compounds would make to a 2 ton car
on the track either ?
Regards,
The Gorilla.

Yoko A-048's are another option....
Never ended up using slicks myself.
Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD 3's are pretty darn gooooooooood.

As said do you want road legal or track only?
I wouldnt suggest R888's are the best. They tend to go off if you over heat them.
Yoko A-048's are good as suggested.
The best has to be the Michelin Pilot cup sport. They are however expensive at around £140 a corner.
Dunlop D01J are these still around? They used to be a very good tyre too.

Too true.

I've done about 5 trackays on colway F2 intermediate.. Although they are cheap at about £50 each, I found I had to limit the number of laps before having a cool down session. I wasn't that impressed to be honest although they were an improvement over road tyres.
I'm hoping R888 will perform better.. Haven't tried 'em yet.

I have used and rated the Dunlop D01-J, they've been replaced by the Direzza DZ101 now though. Will be at the very least £150 each I'd have thought in M5 fitment Sal.northloop wrote: Dunlop D01J are these still around? They used to be a very good tyre too.
My D01-Js were over £100 each in 205/50/15 size.
Thanks for the replies.
£150 is what they cost for 17" throw stars. I will probably invest in a set

Redstar Tyres in Braintree, Essex are one of the Few MPSC dealers and hold ample stock. I made many a visit whilst I had my CSL. I managed to plough through at least seven sets of them in 18 Months. Excellent track tyre. Not bad in the wet either. The only issue with them is standing water and their inablity to disperse of water.
