A quiet word.

This is the Zone.

It is our Zone, shared by many and enjoyed by more than many.

Time now to stop the rants, the debate and lets get back to what we are good at.

Helping each other.

Kos and Sal, nuff said.

Let it be.

I wont lock the thread but give the ZONE some respect dudes.

Fair enough ?

Play time over.

:D  :D

Nothing personal but bo**ox :)

To use your own words "lets get back to what we are good at. Helping each other." Which is exactly whats not happening.

By trying to sweep it under the rug its hardly going to help is it, it should be allowed to run its course and until we hear both sides of the argument its going to keep coming back and biting people in the arse.
There is NO nucleus.

I've just spent some time reading this thread 8O and tbh most people have made good constructive comments, where as some others who obviously have a problem with xs and sal are making it blatantly known. Myself personally i've never met or had any dealings with xs or sal.
It just seems that Kos has made a very good and very valid point, with which I totally agree, but this thread now seems to be a slanging match with someone who is not even responding it :?

Saying things like this is not staying out of it jon...
jonb wrote:Salmans counting his money at the moment....

Or maybe booking plane tickets to pakistan. :D

Im staying well out of this though.
At the end of the day, i've bought plenty of things of the zone, off plenty of peeps (including you jonb  ) and never had a problem, it's where i get 99% of stuff/info for my car......it's just not worth it imo.

I think Sal should at least come forward and explain himself and make things a little clearer for the likes of Kos and also 'our' community that we have.

Hi all.

It was clearly stated in the other thread by us that we went about this the wrong way. I wrote a balanced and moderate reply for everyone to read. if I am stating we went about things the wrong way then I'm sure everyone can read that as an apology. Everyone makes a mistake, others on this forum have made far far more serious mistakes and we all let it rest in the end. What did I do? I jumped on a thread - lots of members are guilty of that.

What I have come to realise is that I am infact no longer reguarded a regular member anymore. I am a site trader. Too long have I tried to play the double role of being a transparent member and also a site trader. I should have known it would never have worked.

Simon13 has always maintained this point in one way or another - the best way he has put this is "know him for his true colours" or words to that effect. Being a trader and a regular member at the same time just does not work as there is a conflict of interests. XS is a business and M5Pilot no longer exists for you as a transparent member.

Kos -His origional point is valid and is accepted and I have already covered this. The issue as confirmed by him is that he some how thought we had it in for him and words have been exchanged. We would ask kos to not call us, not PM us or email us at all as once a certain type of remark has been made we like to distance ourselves from individuals of that mind set.

All of you who have had your say on the subject, do not feel that I am offended. Your comments are infact welcomed. I have always said, as the Zone Shop, that if you have problem please make it known. There is always good to come out of things like this which benefit the members. I know my boundaries now and I know what the members do not want.
While people like to see me only as a site trader do not mistake the fact that one side of me is a die had E30 enthusiast and member. I have been here since the beginning and before. I was 23 when I started on BMWCar Mag forum and I'm now nearly 30. XS is only 18 months old.

This is all I have to say on this subject and any provacative replies will not be entertained.

See you all at forth coming E30 meets and events.

Thanks
Sal

...like Sal gave to Kos...

As said, i'm on no-ones side, but why can none of the MODs agree that this is wrong???

Ant said earlier in the thread, if you experience thread-jumping, notify a MOD... what do you do when it is a MOD?

I definately think and explanation is called for...

...and if things get much worse on here, I think i'll be finding my way to a different forum.

This is my and a lot of other peoples favourite place. Lets not ruin it for each other....

Stu, Salman and Imran are not site moderators, just to clear that up !

They have mod access on the shop forum to allow them to sticky posts as required , that is all

Now I missed this lot (am in bulgaria not skiing no snow) and would like to put my two penneth in...I like the zone the way it is with all us "members" being allowed to say what we want , and would like to see advertising pay for the zone...NOT sponsorship as sponsors seem to call the tune..I have notice a few things creeping in ...try mensioning "chippeduk" and watch how fast its deleted"plugging"or did anyone notice an offer from millerperformance on saturday before it was locked.........If people want to advetise their wares let them pay but without fear or favour...there are lots of members who use there sigs and there membership to advertise ...why have not the mods banned them ALL or at least made them change their sigs ...a lot of different standards seem to apply

Dave, whilst I appreciate your feedback, the Miller thread was locked after the offer expired, and indeed has been superceeded by a new offer currently sitting in the Group Buy forum.

As for Jayson, he has a lifetime ban on here, and that situation will never change, so if he wants his company plugged on forums, he'll have to find other avenues to exploit. I have no axe to grind with him, its just how it is, and we're not alone in our approach here.

Once again, may I state the following

For the Enthusiast, by the Enthusiast , those that are not in agreement, well I'm sure the Planet will welcome few new members.

As for the "I'll service your car" in sigs, yes, its in breach of the rules as such, but where do you want the line drawn??, you cannot use the rules to suit yourselves.

TBh, I'd pull all the sigs and let the server have an easy day for a change, but hey, thats not fair is it ?

I totaly agree with for the enthusiast by the enthusiast but you should say somewhere ,why and for what reason , we cannot mention the unmentionable ...i have only mentioned "him" because i had good service not because i have any other dealings with him....and how would paid for advertising alter the ethos of the zone ?

The Key is balance, and the balance will remain tipped in favour of the members.
In which case, once the zone is turning profit, it must have a members representative on the "board", with no financial concern for the zone, so activities remain open and known to members. That way an affiliated business will be transparent and working in an ethical fashion. This would only enhance an honest traders reputation.

What happened to an open market place? Even internet businesses are subject to the same trading laws as regular traders in the uk.

And Whilst Sal might have pissed on Kos's chips - rightly or wrongly - he does have mouths to feed which makes most people quite protective!

If the zone makes a profit, good on them!

IMO the mods do a great job and deserve whatever they get for the time and effort they put in (in their own time)

This place is a great resource, i bet 90% of people on here have been given information that will have saved them money so who are you to complain IF they end up making a bit of money from it?

No Moderator, or Admin member generates ANY income from the site, Sticker sales pay for some of the hosting cost and domain name registration, but only some, the rest comes out of our pockets !

We dont charge for membership, and long may that remain the case.

iirc, e36coupe is run as a business, this forum is not.

Again, for the enthusiast, by the enthusiast, no-one takes anymore out than they put in.

Perhaps the way forward is for anyone with a group buy idea to pass on contact information to the zone shop. This way we would all benifit. The shop would make a profit(thats what shops are supposed to do)and we,the zone members would abtain a better deal than we could get for ourselves.Suppliers would also benifit from a captive market.I expect that the shop would acknowledge whoevers idea they are using....

why should the transactions go through the shop... that is a very stupid idea if i member found a good deal and the shop wanted to make there profit on top of that

Unless ive completeley lost the plot isnt the above the whole point of this topic.A member found and offered a product for a good price, his thread was hijacked by another member, who then went on to misrepresent (alledgedley) himself to the makers/suppliers. They went on to offer the same product through their shop. Thus cutting the original member out of the deal completeley. Have no axe to grind with the Zone shop or anyone involved with it but wtf is wrong with ANY member being allowed to offer a product to any other member here, especially as it was intended as a group buy. As the member who hijacked the thread has apologised for what he/they admitted was the wrong thing to do how about the hijacker offering any profit made on this deal to a charity of the original members choice, and we can ALL move on.

from what i gather

we originaly as a group buy had 20% discount

but thru the shop as a groupbuy would only have 15%

hmmmm
so we pay an extra 5% for no reason

wish i could make 5% on deals i had nothing to do with winkeye

anyway better shut up now before i go upsetting people

Daz, look at it another way for a mo...

without XSP or a group buy as propsed originally by Kos , that 15-20% discount is non existant, so either situation would save the purchaser some funds, all good for all concerned.

I'm not defending anyones actions here, and nothing will be "swept under the carpet" what happened was wrong, and has been apologised for, can we try and move forward from this ?
