buying a car cover for the sport - NEED HELP!!!!

Was considering purchasing a Voyager car cover is a woven polyester that is non-scratch. i am worried that because it is woven it may scratch?

I've got a monsoon cover for my tourer from these guys, it's the bees knees! It even fits...

Any cover that is in contact with the paint has a potential to scratch... but as long as the cover and car are both clean you shouldn't have a problem.

i got a pritty good one from argos seams to do the job well, soft inside waterproof and £34.99 been on for around 2 month while ive been doing the convesion and no probs atall

ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE left swirl marks all over my fresh respray brilliant red paint job. was certainly no dirt underneath it. on the corners of the car is the worst because it has removed the shine from the paint. You should never use a car cover if your car has just been painted, the paint should be left open to cure, otherwise it will be scratched by the cover.

There will always be a risk of some marking, but if you take good precautions, then IMHO it's better left with a cover on than open to the elements.

see my car will be garaged when it is raining, but my fear is sawdust/metal scrapings falling onto the car! I know this happened to someone recently on the forum, if this happened to me i would go fucking mental! the garage isnt finished, but its the only place i have to keep my car other than outside. "he30"- i aint buying a cover until i am 100% sure it wont alter my paintwork at all! This is the only reason i am buying a cover, to keep the paintwork mint!

There are alot of mint m3's and what not on here, some of these guys must use car covers???

my car had had the paint baked on and had sat in a body shop with the paint on for 2 weeks after the baking.

if you put a voyager cover on a brand new show roon car it would do the same.

what you need is a cover with fleece material lining. E30 Mark have you seen or do you have a voyager cover?

they are crap the inner material is no good it is clearly the type of material which will have the sanding affect which is clearly why my car has swirls on it.

the guy who sprayed my car said the cover would be fine and that the car has had long enough to be ok. however he did say the paint wont be fully harded for another few weeks. but with a good cover it wont matter.

so much for cover zones "high tech material" they use, you may as well get a tent and throw it over your car lol

i think the 3 layer cover with flecce lining some places sell are the best although they are around £70 -£100. cover zone charge about 50-60. if i had another chance i would have got a 3 layer cover. worth the extra money

also dime bag. if your keeping it garaged and want to protect it from bits and bobs you may as well get a indoor cover they come in far nicer materials. i would certainly have confidence in one of them

I have the monsoon cover, It's been on the car for a few months and is OK.

The car has to 100% clean before you put any cover on for obvious reasons...

I know Chris-W uses the voyager covers...

right i am going to buy the indoor cover at the end of the week......if anyone feels this is a terrible decision speak up now!!!!! if not... and somthing goes wrong.....i am hunting your ass's down!

Dimebag how are you getting on with the cover? I need to order one for my dads almost new z3, its living in a garage but it need something to protect it from the dust in there... just debating the indoor cover at the min.

As per above. Mine spend 90% of its time in the garage (when I'm not driving it) BUT sometimes I HAVE to park it outside if I'm working in the garage. I know exactly what dimebag means. It it rains, you have to leather the thing off before putting it away, You've just pulled the mint car out and a bird shits all over it. I just needed something to cover it for a couple of hours while it's parked up.

So I bought one of these.

It actually feels not bad quality and I personaly will put its indoor cover on first to protect the paint but for that price, it's waterproof, bird shit proof and I can just uncover it and pull the car back in. I think it's gonna be a bit big to be honest but again.....at that price, WGAF.

Tried it yesterday and it's almost the perfect size for my cab. The elastic goes right under the valances. I'm using it again today so I'll take a few shots, see what you reckon.

I got the mosoon one from them for my E21. Ok, the paintwork isn't showroom by any means, but it fits well (is actually for the E30) and protects her from the rain reasonably well too. I don't find the lining material to be too rough, and my paintwork certainly hasn't suffered from using it. Saying that, the car is normally very clean when the cover goes on.

! thing though, as my car sits off road in the direct sunlight, the front of the cover where the roof meets the windscreen has cracked just after a year of using, so a little water gets through here, but it still does the main job.

To be honest, they do also say in the leaflet you get with the monsoon cover that you should never use on a freshly painted car for at least 3 months, and do not leave it on a car for prolonged periods due to condensation buildup. I take it off at least once a week when the weather is dry and take the car out for a drive. Horses for courses, I think Carcoon are deffo the ones to go for if you can afford it though.
